Matsumoto
Located within 600 metres of Matsumoto Station and 3.9 km of The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Onyado Nono Matsumoto Natural Hot Spring provides rooms in Matsumoto. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a shared lounge and a 24-hour front desk, along with free WiFi. Private parking is available on site. I liked everything about this hotel but my most favorite part was that we could walk barefoot in the entire hotel, a lot more hotels could do that. The check-in was smooth, our luggage was placed in our room by the staff, staff who was friendly and helpful during our entire stay there. The room was clean and the dimensions perfect, not too small (there's a nook big enough to fit 2 huge suitcases) - plus, we had a view of the train tracks which for us is a plus (if you close the windows the noise from the train is diminished so no problem here). They have this amazing onsen that you can use from 3PM until 10AM (one of the pools is built under the open sky which is the best thing when it comes to onsens); after taking a bath you can check their pretty extensive manga collection (there are chairs and a desk where you can sit and read to your heart's content) and have ice cream (for free). You can have free coffee and juice and also a free late evening snack (soba/ramen mostly). 5 mins walk from the train station. Seriously, I can't imagine what is there not to like about this hotel (considering also the price which is more than fair).

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, special mention to our room clerk Etsuko who made us tea on arrival and served our meal. We were lucky enough to see Mt Fuji on our first day, and the rooftop footbath was much needed after all our exploring!

This was a fantastic family experience in very authentic and classy Japanese ryokan. I loved the private onsen. The staff were all professional and exceptionally welcoming. The food was amazing.
The room was the traditional style Ryokan, large space with comfortable futons and seating area. A heater was provided. The hotel had a private onsen (but it was Very hot). The late check-in was useful and the staff were friendly.
Nanjo was a wonderful host and made us feel most welcome. Nanjo was kind enough in his busy schedule to pick us up and drop us to bus stop. This was much appreciated. The outdoor onsen was a delightful treat after a day of skiing. Anise garden was very clean we would stay again. We loved our stay at Anise Garden, short walk to snow shuttle stop and to 7/11 for supplies. Thank you for your hospitality Nanjo.
The Hot springs itself (men and women) were awesome. The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was amazing. Nice clean private seating area to enjoy your breakfast. The staff is amazing. Very polite and efficient. The owner speaks very good English(very helpful for foreigners who don't understand/speak Japanese). Very good parking space. The timings for private reservations for the hot springs are convenient. Very clean toilet and shower area.
A nice and cosy traditional-style Japanese ryokan, with a private hot spring bath, which we had completely to ourselves, since we apparently arrived slighlty off-season, and the place was almost empty. The owner was superbly kind to meet us at the train station, and then drove us around a bit (took us to the Snow Monkey park, and back).
The staff, the food, the facilities, the location, everything. The extra plus points: staff can understand english. the chef is great, the course meal is a must. It has indoor n outdoor onsen. The ryokan is shining brightly in the area that giving us the feeling of a safe place, especially after a stroll in a quiet n cold night. The family members are having fun strolling in yukata. Amazing experience.
Close to the lake. 15min walk from Kawaguchiko train station. Traditional Japanese style rooms. Wonderful view on lake. Upper floor has hot spring bath (onsen) with view on lake and Mt. Fuji. And it is included in room price. Water cooker in room.
Loved this as a ryokan type experience. The property was beautiful, staff were lovely and the private onsen was a great experience. Location was great, close to the station.
Bot the public and the private onsen were lovely. If you have tattoos you can just queue up and use one of the three private hot springs. If you go at certain times of the day, there is no one so you can enjoy all the three of them easily. The room was nice, spacious and the bed comfy. Breakfast was also very good, with a great variety and mix of continental and Japanese..
This place was a really good deal- the rooms were large and comfortable. The rooms are slightly out of date but I feel like that is reflected in the price. It is small inn and we had the hot springs to ourselves. There is a large indoor onsen for both women and men and a private outdoor spring that was available every time we wanted to use it. The owners were very friendly and kind. I wish we had planned a little more time to soak and enjoy.
