The apartments feature a mix of Nordic and Mediterranean design. The location one block from the central train station, underground entrance just a few m from the door and a few blocks from city hall is excellent, transit in the city did the rest where it was too cold to walk. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the kitchenette proved invaluable for preparing meals when we didn't feel like going out.

We have stayed in numerous 5 Star hotels around the world over the last many years and we have never experienced anything like The Fontenay. It is very luxurious, elegantly decorated and has a charming and very welcoming atmosphere with very attentive and professional staff. The location is fantastic right at the beautiful Alster lake. In short it was a magical experience. We shall definitely come back. Thank you all at The Fontenay for making our stay with a truly memorable experience.

Hotel Volkschule is 400 metres from Rauhes Haus Underground Train Station, and it is 4 km to Hamburg Train Station. It is a 5-minute drive to the A24 motorway, and free private parking is available at the hotel. Everything was good, we would definitely stay here again :)

All rooms were renovated in 2012. Everything, except Gala dinner, chef was terrible and his 5 course meal was also a disaster. we left starving at new years eve, and paid 300 usd per person!!!! other than that everything and staff was great

The building is beautifuly furnished and rooms are exquisitelly decorated, one of the best hotels I've ever visited, everything here is pure art. The staff takes customer services to another level, probably that's how royalty feels like 👌 Breakfast is absolutely delicious and served perfectly. Congratulations! Will definitely return, I highly recommend this hotel if visiting Hamburg.
