Senda Maloka Barlovento is a beachfront Eco-friendly lodge located 2 km from the entrance of Tayrona National Park. - fantastic breakfast - delicious food and drinks in general, at very fair prices - very accommodating staff making it possible to customize food orders, make arrangements, etc (they even helped me get off a tick) - beautiful surroundings and facilities - lovely views - do anticipate not being able to swim, as the waves are very rough - fun additional activities you can book: I highly recommend yoga with Halie, the cacao tour and SUP with Leandro - amazing massages - warm water in the shower (definitely rare in this region!)

Its a very comfortable, cozy and beautiful Hotel where the staff is very friendly, attentive and tries to fulfill every wish. The Restaurant in the Hotel is exceptionally good and the prices are very reasonable. In general the the price value is incredible good. If you are in Santa Marta, this Hotel is the place where you wanna go! I cant imagine you find something better. (We where traveling with a one year old baby)

Favorite places: The pedestrian streets around Parque de los Novios, where you can find the best rated restaurants and bars. Bahia Concha beach, we wanted to go to more beaches in the Parque Tayrona, but did not have the time (Playa Cristal is one of the most popular but you might want to reserve your place with a day or two ahead). Ate at: Donde Chucho (3.5 out of 5) at Rodadero, Lulo (4 out of 5) at Santa Marta and Eli's Restaurant (at the Casa Carolina Hotel, 4.5 out of 5). Moving around: very easy, by bus (they have an unified transportation company) or taxi. Buses can take you to Taganga and Rodadero or anywhere in between, at a very cheap value (COP 1.400 ~ USD 0.5). For and from the airport it is easier to move by taxi. Great activities: walking along the seafront malecon, eating and drinking out nearby Parque de los Novios, the beaches of course! If you go to Taganga (15 min away from the center of Santa Marta), it is better to go to Playa Grande, but the best beaches are within the Parque Tayrona. Or, if you have the time to go farther, there is Pozos Colorados beaches (on the way to the airport, near to renowned Irotama and Zuana hotels) or Palomino beach (which is said to be great), right across the border from Magdalena province to La Guajira province. We would have loved to go to Ciudad Perdida or the Sierra Nevada, but these would require more than just 5 days to get the whole experience.

The coast of Colombia is so beautiful. Santa Marta is a great town with good public transportation, shops and restaurants. Travel to Taganga a short bus ride away for a little fishing village with pretty beaches and small streets to explore. Love Magdalena!

Our stay was simply amazing from start to end. We got a double room with balcony in the third floor. Checking in was fast and pretty easy, everything was in order and everything was crystal clear. We were actually surprised they take cleanliness very seriously and do a thorough clean every day (scrubbing floors, new sheets, new towels, new blankets). Aircon and TV work flawlessly. Breakfast was superb and quite big which I loved. There was a nice assortment of options including fruits, breakfast cereal, yogurts, beverages, soups, eggs, traditional sausages, arepas, bread… quite the assortment for real! This is a very quiet neighbourhood and it’s just a block away from the beach. There’s the Zazue mall at walking distance which has plenty of things to do and visit. The hotel even provides beach tents at a cheaper fare than the guys at the beach. You’re even welcomed to bring your own snacks and store them in your mini bar. High ceilings (which I personally love). The staff was super friendly and easy to reach at all times. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Extremely pleased. No hidden fees. Read some regular reviews in Google and I was quite worried but this place ended up exceeding by far any of our expectations. Best hotel stay so far. Wish we could stay longer!

This was our second visit to the Santorini and we enjoyed ourselves more this time than last. It is a very Colombian hotel, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and all the staff are very helpful and patient as our Spanish is....... less than perfect. The rooms are large, cool and airy, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The hotel has 3 pools, a sky bar with music, food a good bar and fantastic views. The restaurant has really good choice of good food that is served in generous portions, breakfast is very good too. We booked for bed and breakfast only but the meals were very good value. Security is great and you feel perfectly safe and the beach is across the road and is fantastic. Well definitely be back.

Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. I am a firm believer that the staff can make or break a hotel and the staff here confidently knows what they’re doing- everyone from the reception to the kitchen staff was extremely kind, helpful, and attentive. A smaller hotel so plenty of attention on the guests. Great rooms at an affordable price- and did I mention views!? Stay here if you’re in Santa Marta. We stayed at three places in the area and this was our favorite.
