Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Excellent small, family-run hotel with splendid location right in Berat Castle area on top of the castle hill area, with easy parking. What a pleasant place! Aldi and his mother were so welcoming, the breakfast on the panoramic terrace was great, with home-made jam and all. To visit the town center, it is no more than 20 minutes - the most extreme (but also most spectacular) way to get there is the very steep, almost alpine path that we took, but it is also posisble to just have a quick drive or walk down to the town center.

We are a Swiss family and stayed there for 2 nights. The room at guesthouse KRIS is nicely furnished, has a view and was very clean. The double room was perfect with the 5 sleeping places (4 beds). Often at other locations there are only 4 sleeping facilities and we have to book two separate rooms for the five of us. Aldi the host is a very gentle person and we liked the conversations with him. He speaks excellent english and is very interested. The breakfast was very tasty. The guesthouse has a nice terrace and additional seats in the courtyard. There is also a small bar where you can buy drinks. The hostel is located in the middle of the castle and is therefore close to the city center (about 15 minutes walk), but still very quiet (especially in the evening). If there would be some crockery (glasses, plates, cutlery) and a sink for the guests in the shared area, that would be just the icing on the cake. We didn't need it because we didn't stay long, but I always find that very comfortable in guesthouses. Though I'm sure we could have asked him and he would have lent us something. We would definitely book there again.

AustraliaPerfect example of Albanian hospitality. We were treated like royalty in the most beautiful location. The room we rented was a great size, beds were comfy and the bathroom had good hot water and was clean. They even washed, ironed and folded our clothes for a very smaller fee! Breakfast is excellent and it is hard to beat the view. Perfect for if you want to hang out around the castle where a lot of the action is.

NetherlandsThe guesthouse lies within the Castle of Berat and has a spectacular view of the surrounding area. It was small search to find it by car but Aldi (the host) helped us perfectly. Aldi was an amazing host. He was very kind, he told us a lot about the history of the property and he was always ready to help. He even brought us to and picked us up with his own car at a wine tasting. The rooms were clean and had airco. In the evening is was peaceful and quite. Therefore our experience in berat could not have been better. We didn’t do any excursions but other guests did and they were very delighted that Aldi could help them organize. I don’t write reviews often only if I really have a extraordinary experience, if you decide to go to Berat definitely stay here with Aldi at the Kris Guesthouse.

GermanyIt really was perfect; the only thing one could mention is that you have to drive through the castle to get there and at first glance, it looks a bit steep, but don’t worry, it’s not too bad and we managed very well with our rental car.
Great location within the castle. It really is the perfect spot to explore the castle as you will be up there before all the tourists arrive and can also walk around the castle in the evening. There is parking available directly in front of the hotel, which is very convenient. The host is very friendly and helped us with everything. The room was nice and clean and we got a great breakfast with fresh fruit and home cooked dishes. Also, there is a magnificent view from the breakfast table over the city and the entire valley. We definitely recommend this hotel!

CanadaThe place was amazing!! Perfect for if you have a car, parking is such a bonus in the area. The bed was super comfy, and the hospitality was unbeatable. Breakfast was delicious, and they have a bar there as well for whatever you want to drink. What an amazing place to stay! Definitely recommend. Also, you are staying in the castle! We showed up and saw the castle the day we got there, then when we left we went to the actual old town of Berat and walked around it in the morning. It is accessible from this accommodation, but we didn't want to walk up and down the mountain :)

United KingdomThis is such a lovely place! It's like something from a fairy tale, in a castle, lots of original features and a gorgeous terrace with views out over Berat and even more gorgeous as the sunsets. The breakfast was delicious, my partner loved the coffee and well located to explore the rest of the castle.
