Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

arte vida is a magic place where we found relax, worderful taste and quiet. the manager Herbert was incredibily kind , helpful and very professional. there’s a lovely garden too just in front of the wiindow of Mozart house where you could listen his piano if you just try to jump in the past with your imagination. the position is so strategic you’re just in the center of salzburg but the place is peaceful as well.

United KingdomUnfortunately it was very hot when we stayed and in a loft apartment with no AC it meant sleep was very difficult. But we knew this when we booked, we just didn’t predict a heat wave!

United KingdomExcellent location for visiting the old part of Salzburg as well as doing day trips out of the city. Everything the standard tourist would wish to visit, was within walking distance. Extremely friendly and helpful host, Herbert. Communal breakfast and lounge area was great. The type of clientele means that there is no late night gathering in the communal space. Indeed, I think clients were asked to vacate that area by a certain time in the evening. We would not hesitate in staying here again. Perfect for us.

GermanyWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Herbert is a kind and attentive host, and the room itself was quite spacious. Ours (the Bali room) offered a loft area for sleeping and adjacent private restroom. There is a well-stocked community kitchen, drinks and light breakfast items available for purchase and a nice garden courtyard tucked away inside the property. The location is perfect, as you're only a few short minutes' walk from many of Salzburg's key sites - Mirabellgarten, Mozart's former residence and birthplace, Kapuzinerkloster, Residenzplatz, Mozartplatz, Salzburg Cathedral, Fortress Hohensalzburg, Salzach river walk etc. Makartplatz bus stop is right around the corner, which services several bus lines and provides connections all over town. If timed correctly, you can get from your room to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (via Makartplatz bus stop) in under 10 minutes. Highly recommended for a couples (or small group) getaway!

United StatesOur room, Bali, was the smallest of the rooms and nice, we just had a touch of envy for the other ones.

United Kingdomnothing!
Herbert was a fantastic host and really friendly. The hotel was in a great location, just a stone's throw from all the sites of Salzburg, and near plenty of bars and restaurants. Despite being opposite a restaurant, we never had problems with noise. The room was huge and nicely decorated. The communal kitchen was very well-stocked, and the tea/coffee, milk, drinks, and breakfast that you could purchase were a nice touch. If we went back to Salzburg I would definitely stay here again!

United KingdomPayment was a big awkward, it's cash only under 200 euros, so I had to withdraw cash despite having the amount already blocked (pre-authorised) on the card, annoying if you have a pre-paid card doing the FX conversion from your domestic currency. Shower was a bit small.
Excellent location, nearby restaurants, very close to the 10 bus stop to go to the airport (across the bridge). Host was very friendly and responsive by emails when needed and let us check-in and check-out early. Rooms was very big and bed was amazing (bedding you'd expect in a 5* hotel). Interior design was really nice and different from usual or more boring hotels. There was some books/games available in the living room for guests to use.

The property manager Herbert was the very best! he went out of his way to make sure we had what we needs and helped me with all of questions. he was gracious and kind. The property was in a wonderful location and a good price for an apartment that had a great kitchen and bathroom with laundry appliance. It was clean and comfortable.

United StatesI didn’t like the shower. It’s ridiculous to have to continuously press a button to get water every minute. Not having a permanent wall to separate the shower with the rest of the bathroom makes it impossible to not flood the entire bathroom floor. Having the entire floor wet after taking a shower makes for a very uncomfortable experience trying to dry your feet and get dressed.
I liked the location.
