Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The lakeside setting was absolutely beautiful and we spent time watching the ducks and looking at the towering mountains nearby. The breakfast buffet had lots of choices and the food was delicious.

A little outside of the main town, but the staff will gladly call you a cab.

It would be nice to have the option of room service or a restaurant/bar just for guests- otherwise perfect stay.

No view from our room. Rooms in the roof space rather cramped. No kettle in the room!!!!!!!!!

The fact that it was used for the film Sound of Music, the gardens, the lake and the lovely rooms inside the original building.

Incredible hotel. Eating breakfast in the glorious rooms overlooking the lake was a joy. Not in the centre of Salzburg, but we borrowed bicycles so only 10 minutes.

We had a fabulous time. Loved the old building, with an excellent breakfast in the lovely old hall, the library, chapel and terrace. Fabulous views of the mountains, all across a beautiful lake. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff all very helpful. And of course connections with the Soind of Music. A very relaxing stay.

When we arrived the main building was still not tidied up from the wedding the day before, and tables were not tidied away in the music room. Whilst our pre organised upgrade was not available on arrival, it was swiftly dealt with.

For fans of The Sound of Music, there is nowhere better. The suites were comfortable and offer everything you would want. It was within easy walk of a nearby restaurant. It was extremely peaceful and a lovely break after the sightseeing in Salzburg.

There was wedding party on the night we stayed in the hotel. It had been pretty noisy until midnight, The wedding occupied the main building and we didn't get to have a walk through until the next morning. Unfortunately, the mirror room also had a function and was inaccessible. The morning checkout was very slow close to 11am. There was a long queue at the reception lobby. Suggest to check out the night before or earlier to avoid the crowd.

Breakfast in the big hall is really the highlight. Fantastic view and service overall! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

LOVED it! Heard many reviews and was shocked at how pleasantly surprised we were. We loved it so much that we visited twice! Absolute perfect. My boys stay in very grand hotels and palaces and this was their favorite stay in Europe this summer!

The interior could do with some cosmetic upgrades - new carpet and the rooms lack character.

A gorgeous location and some of the Sound of Music was shot on site. Beds were comfortable but the pillows were thin and flat - ask for extra. It was very hot when we were there and the hotel is not air conditioned but fans were provided in the room. The hotel is around 12 minutes drive from the centre of Salzburg but there is an excellent taxi service. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing for the view and the selection of food - best breakfast in Europe!

Some areas could be better maintained, such as keeping the cafe area clean and simply putting out the cushions for the outdoor furniture without having to ask.

History, this is an incredible property in regard to its history. Having breakfast in the grand hall is a bucket list item. Staff presented excellent service.

The only thing I could suggest is better pillows but the bed was super comfy and everything else was A++

The palace is amazing - truly something to behold. A once in a lifetime opportunity. Stunning beyond’s words. Bus into town almost right outside the property gates . It’s a little expensive but definitely worth it as a treat or special occasion. To maintain the property and grounds would be very very costly. A real gem.

Although it is not very close to the city (30 min walking) the hotel is located in a beautiful park, near a lake. The building is beautiful old castle, we loved especially the breakfast area.
