Top contributor and reviewer review: After a long research of the hotels with a lake view around Hallstatt I have picked up Mondi resort . Pros : incredible view spreading out from the restaurant and also rooms facing the lake ! Breakfast is highly recommended and I would count it 8/10 And that is the end of all advantages… the rest are only cons Cons : Front desk service is completely inexperienced in all meanings of this word !!! So far during our long travel history I have never experienced such a bad service!!! It has started from the reservation inquiry’s while they were simply cheating on the price . Finally I have booked by booking.com us they are valued brand . Upon arrival you will not met anyone such as lobby boy or baggage service!! There is also no baggage trolley that are being used in the hotels - they have only supermarket trolley what was really funny. Our room number was 131 and it supposed to be on the first floor as also it was told by the receptionist at the front desk- so imagine my family going with two kids and all luggage carrying on by hand trying to find the room on the first floor/ while we noticed that there is no room 131 on the first floor we have started to look for it at the second floor… for our surprise there was also no one 131 room … so after 10 minutes of research and visit at the reception someone else informed us that there is a third floor accessible by stairs without lift… At the last day of our stay our family has arrived at the hotel - they requested lake view apartment and paid for one like that !

The photos in booking.Com that the hotel has given to the platform is misleading . It shows a layout which seems that the rooms are actually suites but in reality they are not . Both the photos and the layout demonstrates a suite but finally it was just a room and that’s it . This is fraud as it’s misleading !!!When we informed the reception about that , they said to us that they would inform the manager about our complaints but nothing happened . Nobody cared and we had no feedback at all !!! At the check out we asked the receptionist if the manager was informed but she did not have a clue of our complaint we made the previous day !In other words the staff has to get trained and care about the guests . They are not professionals and they are not friendly . The first day we arrived at the hotel for the check in , it was about 23:00 in the evening but the reception was closed . A receptionist came after a while and asked us “ hi what do you want ?” . Helloooooo. we would like to check in , what else . No greetings , no infos no nothing ! She gave us just the key and told us that the check in would be made the next day !!!! So unprofessional ! Not even a Smile for a guest that pays so much money per day ! This of course has to do with the management of the hotel and the directions they give to the people that work there , so Dear Manager try to improve the skills of your staff . Also , for almost 400 € per night , the room was indeed an over promise , under deliver and definitely nothing special , so 4/10 is what you deserve by our experience there

Check in process was a nightmare. We arrived late night, there was no one in the lobby, we only found an envelope with room cards, left on the desk. I booked 10 rooms for 2 nights because we are big group but there're total 12 cards in the envelope, which supposely only 10 cards. We tried to enter our room with the card but some cards didnt work and we ended up shared our room.

The view is no doubt, very beautiful and soothing. Room also nice, except the apartment which look old.

Could not have dinner at the hotel on the first night (we checked-in around 17:00 but it was already too late to secure our dinner). Also, the places nearby were either closed or full. The receptionist called about 10-15 places until she found a place for dinner about 20 minutes away by car. Food selection for lunch and dinner is very limited. The worst wiener schnitzel of our life, that meat should not have been served to any guests. When we came back after dinner on the first night (still in our sweaty clothes), there was NO WATER in the whole area of the hotel, we could not take a shower, etc. They had no idea when will it come back. Eventually it started flowing at around 23:00. The NO WATER issue was repeated on our 3rd night. It was again unscheduled/unannounced, you just notice that you can't flush the toilet and can't wash your body. Not funny in a 4-star hotel. After a while, at the reception there were at least water buckets so you could at least flush your own toilet. The water came back again at around 23:00 Guess what happened on the next morning on the day of our checkout: NO WATER again. This time we noticed it at 8:00 when we woke up (and wanted to use it). It was back at around 11:00 which is the deadline for checkout. So, during our three nights stay we could not use water on 3 occasions at the worst possible time of the day and it was not scheduled/announced, which made it even more inconvenient for us all. The only plus side is that they offered some discount as compensation during check-out.

Good location at the lake, most staff is friendly, good breakfast, rooms are ok, beds are comfortable, very quiet place. Standard bicycles are free, e-bikes for 45 EUR/day.

The room was changed. Instead of room with lake view we lives in bigger room but without expected view. It is quite dirty and there are big spiders in the room. Too many people at the breakfast.

cooked breakfast was limited with options. After 9am and the chef only appears to make warm cook food to order and croissants/bread stop coming so you’re left with the scraps missing bathrobes in my room, not too much of an issue but meant we had to get changed at the pool. despite having lots of parking there I still had to park off premise as it was so busy at night. beds were not very comfy and the quilt cover was tiny. swimming pool dominated by children after 8pm - no adults only pool time

I don’t like it because the breakfast was little too high. $25 per person. only one staff for check in and no help with luggage or anything during check in compare to other high end resort I been. should be luggage assistant because it’s Charlet we have to walk around to get to our room. room little to old and need some upgrade.

if you really a fan for the view this is a right place to stay ! this resort offer beautiful view and relaxing environment and private and many more to offer, spa, swimming pool and package ! perfect for family I would like to thank you the receptionist who checked me in and help me over the phone when I can not find the hotel. very helpful !!! thanks

you do hear the neighbours, thin walls, entry door next to ours. water did take long in the shower and kitchen to get warm. showers in the wellness area rook long to get cold. some weird hotel called us on purpose for a room membership. restaurant rooklong, even though no guests were there. no dogs were allowed in the restaurant, even though the hotels markets itself as dog friendly. and they could have separated an area easily for the dogs.

It would be better if the price of the service could be told to customer. We plan to take a free or cheap price to rent a bike and it took us 50euro. Not a complaint but It should be better if we can get the price before we made the decision.

Nearby the lake. Crew are nice. The room is excellent. The service is excellent. The breakfast is the best I had In Austria.
