How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Quite a few stairs to get to reception. The room is on the smaller side.
Really central location with super friendly staff and a nice restaurant / bar on the ground floor. Checking in and out was a breeze.

hard to unload and load luggage due to no driving on street in front of hotel, a bit of a walk from the parking garage.

There was water damage in our room coming through and flaking off on the bedside table. We mentioned it to the property manager, who was already aware of this as the morning cleaner had mentioned it and they were having someone come in to repair immediately. The Shower was very small.
The location was great, right in the middle of the city centre. The restaurant in the facility was excellent for our evening meal. Our breakfast was really great too. Lots of options and they cook fresh eggs for you if you like. Some lovely little breakfast touches as far as presentation goes.

It was a very hot night, and while there was a fan in the room it was so loud we had to open the window. Hotel is in a busy part of old town, and there was a lot of noise through to the morning ours.
Excellent service by staff, very nice old house, nicely appointed rooms

The sheets and beds could use an upgrade. Everything else in the facility was great.
The staff were all helpful and friendly. There is a private deck in a beautiful garden setting at the back of the hotel. We loved the outdoor setting for a a drink at sunset!

Shower cubicle only about 80cm square. Breakfast only average quality ingredients; the jams were terrible. They didn't have enough staff for the roof garden restaurant.

I was in the apartment on floor one. Layout of bathroom was a bit awkward, especially the toilet. Shower/tub combo was difficult to use without water bouncing outside the tub area. Host for the restaurant for the dinner seating was a bit rude in telling us there was no availability.
Great location, no attractions were more then a 15 minute walk. Old hotel with a lot of charm. One of my sons was not feeling well and front desk clerk was very accommodating trying to find a doctor/clinic to take him to.

The breakfast was very meager. The staff had forgotten to put out the menu that you could order so by the time we had learned about this we had basically eaten and really didn't have a chance to have the full breakfast. This was very disappointing and we did tell the person at the front desk about this. No real attempt was made to try to satisfy this issue.

The restaurant and bar closed on Sundays. We were hoping to dine there and enjoy a drink on our last night.

Room was a bit warm. Sleep quality wasn’t the best. Opening the window wasn’t an option due to loud conversations from people outside on the street below.

The hotel is in an historic area that is set up for pedestrians. You need a code to access the area.

The space in the room is rather limited. There wasn't a table where I could do some work.
The location of this hotel is perfect. Breakfast service was very good. The hotel meets all basic requirements and therefore fullfils the expectations. I can recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.
