Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyBreakfast seemed expensive, considering the price I'm already paying per night. Not all, but some staff seemed a bit disconnected and less cozy. Not that big of a deal, but does separate a 10/10 from a 9/10.
Really good and clean beds and bathrooms. Bathrooms even had hairdryers which were such an added bonus. The lockers in the room were big and well protected with a key card lock. Good space for hanging out and chilling. Made good connections with those sitting around me during meals. Free coffee and tea is also good!

SingaporeGood location from the train station. I loved the lockers that is only accessible by your own card. Only had to make your own bed and would prefer to have curtains for privacy.

ItalyVery small rooms, not so clean and equipped with uncomfortable beds. Not many bathrooms and badly located on the floors.
Nice position near to both city center and train station. Bar and kitchen furnished and open all time. Private sink in the room.

GermanyThe rooms were tiny, though it is alright when you just stay for a few days.
The Bar was nice and the rooms were neat and tidy. The location is very good, just a 20 minute walk to the old town and places like the Getreide Gasse and the Mozart place. The staff was very nice and free coffee and water are always available.

Good clean hostel in a good location just a 10 minute walk from the rail and bus stations. Plenty of room to sit outside your dorm , a kitchen on site but only with a microwave WiFi is excellent

United KingdomThere was only one toilet stall on the floor (that I could find). During peak tourist season this may mean a long time waiting to use the washroom. The kitchen does not include a stove to cook, and the microwave is quite weak.
The hostel is around 20 mins walking from old town and 15 - 20 mins walking from the train station. The rooms are quite large so even a 6 room dorm felt spacious. There was space to keep your luggage for free. The male receptionist was very nice and accomadating.

IndiaIt's 1 of the best hostels in town. It's perfectly located for anyone who wants to venture out into the city centre , even late evenings It's perfect as most public transport is just a 500 mts walk. It also has a Spar hypermarket just down lane in case you wanna buy groceries. Immaculately clean and pristine. FABIO was very helpful and an able guide for my stay at Salzburg. BF was served well, wifi is available very safe for both men/women. MARKETPLATZ which Is where most busses or public transport is for most single travelers like myself , just a 600mts walk. Overall an amazing first time hostel experience for me. Would recommend it to all.

IsraelThe cost for the value. Perhaps Salzburg is an expensive city, but the price for what you get doesn't quite make sense. It should be at least 1/3 less, more like 1/2.
It was fine for a one night stay, and I liked that they always had coffee out

FranceThe breakfast isn't included and also didn't look much appealing.
Salzburg isn't a huge city and the Hostel is located in the middle of the city and the train station so most of the things are approachable on foot. Even if you have to take public transport it's well-connected and a 24H validity ticket is a good option for only 4.50 euros. They also keep tea/coffee/water/fruits near the reception area free of cost so that's quite a handy snack. Lockers operate with the room key itself, so no need for an additional lock.

AustraliaNothing really, it's not exactly a 5 star hotel but was perfect for us.
We had a private room in the hostel and it was very comfortable and perfect for a couple of nights. The hostel staff were very nice and accommodating. The shared areas are all a little worn out but perfectly functional.
