Not enough plug sockets, let alone in a convenient place. No curtains on bed. Lockers are small. WiFi does not work.

Clean. Location to beach is amazing. Pool. Volleyball net. Spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Staff at the reception was professional and welcoming. Rooms were clean and spacious so were the bathrooms. Bunk beds were good quality and almost didn't move when climbing up (no squeaky, wobbly cheep crap you can find at some hostels) Didn't use kitchen or any other facilities but looked nice and clean. There were lockers in the room, luggage room in the lounge, free WiFi. 8 minute walking distance from the bus. Really appreciated quiet hour policy after 10 pm - didn't hear any notice during the night. Would stay again.

Only fans in the room - no air con. Kitchen was BOILING, had to hire plates/bowls/cutlery, a lot of the hobs didn’t work and the boiling water unit was broken too.

Perfect location right off the beach, 5 min walk to town, surfboard hire, lots of seating available and very clear information about what’s going on in Byron. The rooms here very spacious.

The signs everywhere telling you you're being watched didn't rub off well on me. Every surface has a sign telling you that if you do anything, such as not washing a pot, you'll be kicked out. A lot of hostels have these rules and they are definitely needed but there's a way of doing it, this place got that element wrong. There are just so many signs threatening you with eviction for so many things you end up not even reading the signs because it's just a given that anything you do there can result in eviction if you do it wrong. The actual staff themselves were quite friendly. The hostel rooms are very stuffy, dusty and old. It's not too bad because it has does have a nice backpackers vibe, but an air con unit wouldn't hurt. The cleaning times are very inconvenient. I've never known a hostel to shut it's kitchen for an hour between 3 and 4 pm in the afternoon. Additionally, the kitchen closes at 10pm overnight so if you haven't refilled your water before then, you are stuck with toilet tap water, or the vending machine which is either off or out of stock. The kitchen closing was really frustrating when I had morning activities. It is supposed to open at 7:30am but some mornings it opened a bit later and this meant I had to miss breakfast before my excursions, so that was fantastic. The hostel is also very tight. Adding a 50 cent surcharge to every card transaction and needing a $5 deposit to use cutlery is so cheap.

The location was good, very close to town and obviously the beach was just outside. Showers seemed new. I got along with the people in my room well. It's definitely a good price, for all it's faults I would consider it again if on a budget.

Good hostel, if you want to meet others and have fun. The staff is super nice, they organize games and pub crawl each night. They have discounted food for the guests made in their kitchen. Ohh, and free breakfast as well.

The property is well organised, but in my opinion they take it too far. Anywhere you go in the hostel, its full of signs of what is forbidden and what are the consequences. I've been in many hostels, and my experience is that a friendlier approach to guests can be just as effective.

Our first experience of staying in a hostel and it was great. We were a family of four and stayed in one room which was perfect. Room was clean, beds very comfy and toilets and showers were clean. Fabulous location only 5 minutes walk from the town and beach. Quiet at night. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

You need to give a deposit for everything, keys, plates and cups etc, +2 dollars for a towel. Toilets and bathrooms could be cleaner

Very spacious rooms and it doesn't get warm. There are pc's that you can use and you also have direct access to the beach from the back door.
