Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe communal area was pretty dirty, bugs on the floor and could do with a good clean. The kitchen doesn’t have plates for use, you have to pay for them, small fee $10. A heads up before arriving at the property would have been useful. I really dislike when you book a mixed dorm and it’s not and even split. I was in a 4 bed with 3 males, I know all female dorms are available, 2 of my party were in there but there was not enough beds for 3 of us. It would be nice to have 2 females and 2 males if mixed 4 bed. The AC didn’t work properly in the room, which meant the door had to be open, this made the room very noisy.
Pretty well located, only 15 mins walk to train station and bus stop straight outside. Really sociable hostel, but many people are long stay so not always open to shorter stay travellers. Beds were comfortable and the showers were powerful and warm. Large kitchen area.

CanadaNo major problems but I would honestly never stay here again. Hostels in Australia suck, everyone knows that, but I feel like even still this one was bad quality for Aus. Pool was gross and I never saw anyone in it for the days I stayed. Wifi SUCKED and did not reach any of the dorms or even the quiet working areas?? Massive place so hard to meet people. Lots of long term guests (almost entirely French) which is expected but it just felt very cold and unwelcoming. Bedding was super old and ratty. No soap in the bathrooms in dorms!! Super unhygienic and gross. Also, it said the dorm gets cleaned once a week (which is disgusting as is) and that day for my room was Monday but i arrived on a Monday and bathroom garbage bin was already overflowing and was never once emptied so garbage just piled beside it. Ive stayed in other hostels in Perth and they offer a much more in inviting and homey atmosphere, look elsewhere if that’s what you’re looking for
A few different areas to hangout which is nice like a “tv” room, outside seating and a couple more areas inside. I liked the balconies off each room. Always enough food for breakfast and it was help yourself. Staff were always kind

AustraliaMattresses all seemed like they could do with an upgrade potentially. Whilst I don’t mind making my own bed, I did feel bad for the others in my room at 1am when I was trying to make it up.
I liked that it was really clean. They even changed the shower curtains! I also liked the bus stop directly opposite if you wanted to use it, but it’s really a 20 min walk into CBD. Staff helpful and informative. 24/7 reception was perfect.

NetherlandsThe beds are so shakey. I felt so so sorry for the girl sleeping in the bed underneath me. Every time I turned over it genuinely felt like the bed could break any minute. Showers in my room weren’t the cleanest. No space in bathrooms to put anything. A little shelf near the sinks would help heaps to put your personal belongings on whilst getting ready. Also wifi doesn’t work in rooms, only in the common area downstairs.
Location is fine. Walking distance to trainstation(s) etc! Supermarket is 2 mins away. Good connection with public transport. Pick-up location for several west coast tours :)

SwedenSome of the staff were rather rude to be honest. A shame really when I myself try to put on a friendly face but I feel like I m more of an inconvenience rather than a paying guest. Of course there were a few friendly staff but some where just grumpy and just sighing around when I ask for help ex. Wanting to get into the luggage storage. Sorry for being an inconvenience, I won’t be back so it’s all good. Use my money well. Peace
Good location, easy to catch bus into the cbd and back or if you want to walk. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm that was surprisingly spacious with a good air con. Nice and tidy in the room.

GermanyThe room I stayed in was not clean at all. The bin in the bathroom was overfilling, the floor looked disgusting. I slept in the top bunk and there was no railing and not even a ladder to get up to. I had to literally climb it.

AustraliaThe carpets and certainly worn and seen there day. Depending on which room you get some Air-conditioning systems are noisy.
Convenient location, only 10 minute walk to the cbd. Lots of cafes, Hyde Park just around the corner. Having check in late is handy with staff there at all times. The pool looks nice but didn't use it, probably great for Perth summers. Notice boards throughout the place offering lots of information and job opportunities which is helpful for backpackers.
