The homeless camp outside the door was very dirty, for instance the were human poos near the hotel which was very confronting to see for our child and ourself. Hard for her to hotel to control that but its the only negative.

It’s a pretty standard chain hotel, but the location next to Queen Victoria Market is great. It’s also inside the Melbourne free tram zone, so you can get around the city centre for free, and without needing a Myki card.

The fact that there was NO lift/elevator from the underground car park up to the hotel room or even just to the lobby was ridiculous, it means you either have to double park out the front and bring luggage in through the main entrance before parking your vehicle or carry all luggage up 3 or so flights of stairs. I stayed just the single night with 4 kids, so we made the choice to rummage thru our luggage for nights worth of clothing each to take up the stairs. It was still difficult even doing that as i had a small baby and had to then carry a pram up the three flights of stairs. So from that a logistical point of view its not customer friendly on any level and a bit of a nightmare, not good for families, elderly or anyone with a bit of luggage.

Staff helpful and friendly, easy to locate, food shops and maccas just up the road in elizabeth street which was handy. Beds conformable.

The room was directly across from an office building. We couldn't open the blinds during the day due to the office workers having a direct view into the room. The bedroom door opened awkwardly into the bathroom door.

The carpet was showing wear, the shower had poor flow and was not able to be adjusted, and was over the bath. There was swollen timber at door frames and window sills where there had been water allowed to soak in. Very basic cutlery and crockery, for only 4 people (despite having booked for 5). Breakfast was basic with hot and cold buffet options, but really as expected for an Ibis property. Long lines at checkout.

Check in was smooth, the room was the size that was expected - always good to have space for 2 adults and 3 children. We were on the highest floor, which was quiet and had a limited view of the surrounding buildings. Near the QVB and an easy free tram into Flinders St. A good number of restaurants within easy walking distance. Lygon St also easy to access.

The buffet breakfast was horrendous, powdered scrambled eggs is a complete rip off for $28 a head. As a result we did not go back to the restaurant for breakfast the next two mornings of our stay

This was our third annual stay at the Ibis for the tennis. It is in an excellent location, staff are wonderful and the property is very clean with daily house keeping. Anything we asked for including a change in pillows was met with ease and extremely helpful staff.

Great location, good buffet breakfast and close to Queen Victoria Markets and trams to city. Easy walk to city as well. Close to a lot of places to eat and an Aldi very close by for supplies etc. Great place to stay. My apartment was very quiet. It is a bit dated in areas but still very good.
