As a solo female traveler I was frustrated that having the barn door open for ventilation was not secure. It would be better if there was a flyscreen and lock on the screen door at least. I’m happy to have no a/c as there was a particularly excellent fan, but no airflow really limited my enjoyment of being in the property. I was also annoyed at there being no bin in the bathroom, only the kitchen.

The location was great, perfectly close to the water. Was good for 1 person.

The info. needs to be updated. In particular, make it clear that there is no free wifi at the cafe next door. There is a charge for wifi in the apartment. Who else still does that?

location.location.location!! that is the key quality of this apartment. Sea view, close to two beaches and with a good beach style cafe next door what can go wrong?

Window frames old and draughty; security lights on stairs up to apartment needs adjustment as you are over half way up before they come on. Stairs also difficult to climb with heavy luggage.Room has different floor levels so possible trip hazard.

Position was fantastic: right on seafront walkway. Easy 10min stroll to Manly centre..Very clean and bright inside. Owners kindly agreed to give us earlier access on day of arrival aspartner unwell.

I was put off by the fish and chip shop underneath, and cafe opposite, but there didn't disturb me at all, and both closed quite early in the evening, around 5pm so were no bother at all overnight. There were problems with the wi-fi when I arrived, but Stephen sorted this out as mentioned above.

Room was nice, not overly luxurious, but clean and serviceable. The view was OK, it looked out onto a side street and a cafe opposite, but you could also easily see the sea, the days were a bit 'busy' outside, but not too obtrusive, at night it was lovely and quiet and all you could hear were the waves, and occasional chatter of people walking past. There was no wi-fi when I arrived which I needed for working and keeping in touch with my family back in England, but Stephen kindly put an i phone in the room to use a hotspot, this was very helpful and much appreciated. The appartment was just far enough away from town to be away from it all, but a 10 minute stroll when I wanted to go in to eat or go to the beach.

The only thing that concerned me was security. The door to the room, which is open to the street on the first landing of the rear external stair, was very loose and didn't feel secure at all when the door was locked. I felt it would be very easy to push in. This worried me as I had my laptop and other valuables with me. Please consider upgrading room doors and locks.

The location was fabulous which was why I booked it. Next door to a great cafe, a very short walk to Shelly beach and a nice stroll to the pier to the ferry to the city. It's the perfect place for a short stay in Sydney. The buzz on the beach around the surf life saving club was fantastic. I also liked the quality of the bed linen and towels - first class comfort there. I also liked that there was an iron and board. Important after a long flight with lots of wrinkled clothes in the suitcase.

We need the light from our phone for the first flight of stairs but nearly to the top, the sensor light came on.

There wasn't much that I didn't like. The bed was too soft. If you aren't an early riser, you may get woken by the people walking by as the area is bustling. I can't think of anything else but I had to write more sentences.

This is in a fantastic location, halfway between Manly and Shelly beaches. It is about twenty metres from the ocean pool. The building is rustic looking from the outside but is quite lovely inside. The staff are accommodating and friendly.

Just know it’s very small and the kitchen is not what I would consider adequate to cook in.

Location is amazing and the bed is comfy. We would stay here again.

The room was quite hot not much ventilation, and dark. I expected it to be more modern. steps up and down in the room are a bit annoying, bathroom shower rail very rusty. I would have liked a beach towel, pegs to hang clothes on line, more black tea and pepper salt- I had to ask for these. My transport was walking in and out of manly, which is a lovely walk but need to factor it in.

The location was excellent, could swim daily and quiet- no traffic or noise. Nearby cafe for coffee, and shelley beach.

A couple of things would make this a ‘shabby chic’ beach shack, as opposed to just a bit of a ‘tired’ beach shack. Given space is at a premium, some hooks (as seen in the photos but not in real life) on the walls would help for bags, hats and towels. A little coffee table/stool for keys and phones - not too much extra to lift the property just that tiny bit to get to a 10/10 for not just location but comfort - and practicality - too.

The location is amazing - absolutely 10/10. If you want to be on the water, plus an easy walk to any of the wonderful things Manly has to offer - restaurants, surf beaches, cove beaches, shops, bars - and love a beach shack vibe, this place hits the mark. Comfy bed and pillows, basic but functional bathroom, in an elevated studio with a view.
