How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Absolutely beautiful garden cottage, with very tasteful decor, very comfortable and a lovely breakfast. Maureen was most welcoming and hospitable. A highlight of our week in Tassie.

Wish we could have stayed longer!
The ideal holiday accommodation for me is a cosy B&B in an old fashioned English style cottage, and Mulberry Cottage ticked all the boxes for me. The Garden Chalet is a lovely cottage featuring gorgeous decor that exudes old world charm, but with all the modern amenities and creature comforts needed to provide a comfy stay. Loved in particular the bedroom, with its sloping wood panelled ceilings, floral bedspread, embroidered lampshades and vintage style dressing table. Breakfast was delivered to us by our host Maureen in a basket, and was most delicious - a hearty spread of homecooked pancakes, fresh fruits, cereal, toast, milk and juice. We also appreciated all the little thoughtful touches - like the complimentary port and chocolates, and the provision of appliances like a toaster and washing machine. It was interesting as well to read through the handmade scrapbook on the history of the property - it's clear the owners are very passionate about documenting and sharing the heritage of this historic property. Thanks Maureen for your hospitality and for the wonderful stay!

All pretty good. Lounge chairs in Garden cottage not very comfy, but the rest was top notch.
Great place to stay. Private cottage, quiet location, yet close to town. Excellent facilities. Comfy bed and pillows. Good shower. Continental breakfast was very good.

I was totally captivated by this stay - there was nothing I didn’t like.
Superb attention to detail and the warm, friendly welcome made me feel ‘at home’ immediately. Breakfast, delivered in a basket, was a unique touch and the breakfast was superb! Unique setting in the Garden Cottage and beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout.

Leaving. We had a delightful two-day stay.
Maureen was a delightful host. We stayed in the Chalet. Charming and private. Lots of nice decorative touches within the chalet. Breakfast was included and was generous. The freshly made fruit salad was a treat. The kitchenette is limited, with a microwave and air fryer. This was no surprise as it is consistent with the description. Generous tea and coffee making facilities. Washing machine worked well. Great value for money.

We loved it here. Maureen was an amazing host. Breakfast was lovely and brought in a wicker basket covered with a linen cloth. A beautiful garden and place to relax.

The breakfast was so beautifully presented.Fresh fruit salad juice yogurt multigrain toasting bread and condiments. BUT TO CAP IT OFF THERE WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS BLUEBERRY PANCAKES WITH FRESH BERRIES. MAUREEN WAS A DELIGHTFUL HOST.WE COULD HAVE STAYED A WEEK.

Breakfast was ridiculously good! Cottage was exceptionally clean and the hosts had thought of all our possible needs. Our Wonderful host Maureen was welcoming and genuine. The best place I stayed during my time in Tasmania without a doubt. Highly recommend.

Nothing, it was a great stay. If I am being very picky the coffee I paid extra for in the morning was pretty average and not work paying extra for (I didn't have the heart to tell Maureen :)
Fantastic breakfast and the accommodation was very unique, we loved it. We purchased a bottle of wine and sat in the lovely garden.

I liked everything. The Maureen was lovely. Facilities were beautiful. It was very clear to us that Maureen takes pride in her property. We will definitely be staying here again. The blueberry pancakes for breakfast were delicious
