I had bedside lamp with globe not working. Took globe downstairs for staff to replace and said they would but didn’t. Lucky I had a torch. Left food, milk,juice in communal fridge. When I went to retrieve milk for my cereal, milk was all used and bottle left in fridge. No crockery in kitchen. Cups were slimy inside. Lucky I bought my own.

Bed was comfortable. As winter approaches more blankets maybe needed. But air conditioning on warm may help.

The whole stay the wifi didn’t work. When I asked about it they told me to try again, second time I asked they told me it didn’t work. The room has a lot of damage. Like scratches on the wall and in the bed linnen. The shower hasn’t a lot of power. The staff downstairs was oké, they helped with questions but that was it.

Fast check-in, enough space in the room. Nice new bathrooms. One of the cheapest hotels in the Hunter valley nice price

Some extra (basic) cutlery & crockery in the kitchen would be good. And we did have a few problems unlocking the downstairs security door, but staff were very helpful.

We didn't have breakfast, but the coffee was good. The hotel was a bit loud on Saturday night, but hey it's a pub, and we didn't mind. The staff were fantastic; happily provided more towels & an extra doona for the very comfortable bed (they also had good linen & comfy pillows). Very knowledgeable about local food options, and made a very good recommendation for a local Indian restaurant when asked.

The staff were very friendly. When we arrive at the Hotel, we were heading to a Wedding and the room wasn’t ready for us and it took half an hour to figure out so we ended up getting change in the Pub’s Bathroom and could just checkin after we came back from the wedding party, late night. The room was big and facilities were good and clean but the window’s blind were broken so it was a lot of light coming from the corridor even at night. Apart from this it was reasonable for the price.

Minor: * The room itself needs some renovation (loose power points, cracked plaster and skirting boards, etc.). * Shared toilets - a toilet room (no sink), a shower room with a sink, and a shower + toilet room with a sink. Big problem - one of these rooms had NO working lights! Pretty bad to not even check your light bulbs each day. The room had 2 heat lamps and a light bulb and all were out. Major: OK, so the biggest problem, especially for a Saturday night is it was incredibly noisy. It is a very popular pub and the music was turned up to 12. The room looked out onto the pedestrian zone which is full of noise until the early hours of the morning. After eventually getting to sleep, I was woken in the wee hours by shouts from some sort of an extended fight or someone getting questioned/arrested by the police? Not sure. You could well say that this is expected for a stay over a proper, old-school public hotel (i.e., a pub) and you'd be right, but the venue really should invest in better sound proofing for the windows and doors. Still, it was a cheap night's stay probably mainly because of the noise. I certainly lost a lot of sleep as a result.

Friendly staff, good location (for access to Cessnock and surrounds, but see below) and a nice new and very comfy bed. The shared toilets were clean (but see below). It was also the cheapest accommodation in Cessnock that night by quite a long way.

Toilet was always blocked Rubbish wasn't cleared regularly in the bathrooms especially if it's communal There was no crockery, plates, bowls or cups in the communal kitchenette, wierd to have a fridge and microwave and kettle when there was nothing to use to eat & drink. No dish washing liquid or towels to clean up after using kitchen

The noise coming from the club is so loud that can ruin the night. We spent only one night and had to leave really early to continue our trip and since I'm a heavy sleeper, I managed to get a decent amount of sleep, but my partner struggled and went to sleep in the car. Bring earplugs and be ready for the party.

Bed was good. Size of the bedroom was OK. Toilets fairly clean and we'll maintained. Parking available in the the property, and good food downstairs. If the nois doesn't bother you, it's a great cheap spot.

Room smelt smokey as I think it was coming from the gaming room below. Advertised as kitchen facilities but really just a sink, kettle microwave and fridge. No cutlery or plates.

There was one thing when I got one of my drinks from the fridge located in kitchen situated upstairs. I put my hand in the handle and sliced my finger in two spots. It was a broken piece of glass,I left ontop of the microwave.

no tv in room, there was a lounge area for guests to use but it was so hot in there, we did try the tv in lounge area but wasn’t tuned in and didn’t work, no cups in the kitchen area so couldn’t make any drinks and only one toilet was working in the accommodation area.

It is pretty old and you have to share a bathroom with the other patrons. There was a smell of vomit in the morning.

It was a fairly large room with a double bed, small bedside table, toiletries, AC, fan and mirror. Would have liked a bar fridge and coffee/tea, though these were available in the communal hall outside the room, and a wash basin in the room. Would also be good to have a lock and/or security latch on the door.

Overall it was a comfy stay and was good value for money, though at the time of visit (Jan 7, 2023) there seemed to be a number of hotel vacancies around the area. The room and shared bathroom/toilet facilities were clean.
