Nestled in near the base of Mt Roland - very grounding

Only very minor, I always prefer a separate toilet but I knew when I booked that it was in the bathroom so no complaints at all!

The amazing backdrop of Mt Roland, the lovely staff and the overall location

It was a lovely, rustic, scenic, huge area with several lakes and some farm animals. The friendly, gentleman owner brought us on a evening walk to see the wild animals roaming in the property.

The owner John was very friendly and passionate about his estate, organising evening/night walking tour for guests to spot wild animals. The cottage is large, spacious and clean. It's great to wake up to a fantastic Mount Roland view. Good to have WiFi in that location.

To say it is a little tired seems mean when it is perfectly adequate for any need.

Nestled under Munt Roland for spectacular view. Excellent location close to Sheffield and easy to get to Cradle Mountain. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen had all the basic bits for food prep.

There is no word describing how nice was our stay. The cabin is big, really comfy with everything needed for a cosy stay. The bubble bath with the view over the mountain is unbeatable. Same with the big window from the room over Mt Roland ! The property is huge and really peaceful to walk around. On top of that John's, the owner, was so nice, full of knowledge about the flore and fauna. He gave us the perfect honeymoon gift by recommending us the Tasmanian Arboretum on our very last day before leaving so we could see some platypuses. Which we did ! It was amazing, thanks again for everything

Beautifully maintained property with added bonus of animals such as ducks, chickens, horse, cows and many native animals. The on-site Silver Mine experience was a great activity for the whole family. Great walk through the Forrest Close to Cradle Mountain

    Nice location in the bush

The bed was a little small for me and my husband so we didn't sleep the best and felt a little sore in the morning.

Lovely location with a walk to the glow worm caves which we unfortunately didn't get time to do, close to a little town for coffee, IGA and other items. Had everything we needed to make our own food.

The greeting on arrival was not very welcoming so we didn't bother visiting reception again and so probably didn't learn as much about the location as we might have.

The view of Mt Roland from the cottage was magical. The proximity to numerous walks was a bonus. The wild life and farm animals entertaining. The facilities were comfortable if a little tired. It was very peaceful and quiet

We spend not enough time there.

Fantastic location; close to Sheffield and not to far to Cradle, roomy, clean, great view to Mount Rolland, Silver mine on property dating to 1860 to explore (rubber boots and light torch provided), great host family, farm animals around, plenty but not to many roomy cabins on a slope.

Long drive (40 minutes) to Cradle Mountain each day but definitely worth staying there.

Beautiful mountain views, relaxing farm area, wonderful cabin, for a reasonable price. On-site manager very informative who gave us an excellent night spotting tour on request.

A peaceful retreat just the right distance from Cradle Mountain
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Spa Cottage
    • Stayed 2 nights

I must admit I was expecting it would be easier to see native animals staying here given the photos - we did see some small wallabies at night but couldn't take photos as they only came out well after dark. Also, there seemed to be only one portable heater (with the main heater in the living room) so it was a little cold in the bedrooms at night - fine once we took out the extra blankets provided.

John is the owner of this family-run retreat and was really welcoming and accomodative of our (rather extensive) requests. The cottage size was easily sufficient for four adults, kitchen well equipped, and the location and surroundings were wonderful - extremely quiet and peaceful. I was originally looking to stay within Cradle Mountain but it turned out that it was much more peaceful and close to nature here than in the observeably busy resorts on site there - and at only a 40min or so drive from the national park, it's a great place to make your base. The views of being right under the mountains were also superb, especially around sunset. Watching the chickens being fed in the morning and the goose and duck on the lake in the sunset was really wonderful.

I'd have loved an extra power point on the other end of the kitchen bench. Not a big issue, just means the toaster can be away from the wet area with the kettle and stove and sink.

Liked the location and environment very much. We enjoyed the spacious cabin.

    Nothing really.

Love the nature and animals around the property, the location being away from all, the weaker phone line so I don't look at work, kids loved the pool although a bit cold for us, the owners were lovely.
