Parts of the hotel are rundown and need to be revamped. The second time we were given a room on the first floor. It seemed that some refurbishment had been started, but not completed. The bathtubs, especially, were really old and stained. A few more drawers would have been a great help, especially during the longer stay. There should definitely be some storage in the bathroom. The cleanliness was hit and miss. On alternate days the room was cleaned to a high standard - bed made, surfaces wiped down, teacups washed etc. On other days the bed looked as if it had been made by my five year old grandson! Nothing was wiped or washed. Only the towels were changed. Obviously the work of two different members of the cleaning staff. The first one is to be commended. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful, but was the same every single day. Even the versatile egg was always scrambled, with no options of poached, boiled or fried.

We stayed five nights as part of a tour and later booked one night before our return home, after a visit to Fremantle. In both cases the rooms were spacious with balconies. The beds were comfortable. The free toiletries didn’t come in little plastic bottles that are not good for the environment. They came in fixed containers that could be replenished regularly. I especially appreciated the body lotion. The towels were big and soft. The location, though central, was quiet. Staff at reception were always friendly. We had breakfast daily and dinner one evening. The food was plentiful and well cooked. We appreciated the free drinks vouchers. There was always a lovely smell as we walked into the hotel.

I originally booked for a queen balcony room. I accepted a suggestion from Bookings to upgrade the room. I first checked I was still getting a balcony with the view for the upgraded room. It appeared so. When I got to the hotel my room had no balcony. I was very disappointed as I could have stayed at a closer hotel to the 2 day Conference I was attending but specifically chose this hotel because of the balcony.

I ate at the cafe twice and the food was great and the staff lovely.

We booked a room online with king bed, but after checkin were given a room with 2 single beds! We called reception and they changed the room for us, as booked. Unfortunately, the ‘king’ bed we got was two smaller beds pushed together. There was also no bottled water in the room, and no mini bar!! And the shower was a pseudo shower, built on the small bathtub. This is not what a professional couple want in a hotel suite.

Our room was looking quite tired, although it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our room was right near the lifts, which I thought would be a noise problem throughout the night, but the noise from a large fan outside our window negated any lift noise! Ask for a room on a higher floor if you are a light sleeper. The bathroom wall tiles has obviously been painted, and looked clean, but the floor tiles looked very old. The housekeeping team are doing a good job in terms of cleanliness, but the bedrooms definitely need renovating.

The hotel is in a good location for the city centre, with a free CAT bus right outside the door. The parking is a bit awkward, certainly not suitable for a trailer, but it is only $20, compared to a nearby hotel that charges $55 for parking. The breakfast buffet was great, and much better than I expected. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early. The three single beds option was perfect for us.

There were renovations taking place on the upper floors which caused a paint smell whenever you exited the lifts on your floor or left your room. Bathroom in need of an update, however the tiles had been recently painted. There are 2 lifts which are very small and would probably only fit 3 people plus luggage per trip.

Spillage on the carpet after came back from work, as the room was cleaned-up every day, it could be from housekeeping work. Not a major issue at all. The heating function did not really work at times and you cannot turn it off if it gets cold.

Location was perfect for my stay. Walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Bed was comfy, the view from balcony was amazing. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Check in and out were smooth. Really enjoyed my 6 days here!

facilities in the room were dated for the price per night; not overly clean (toenail in our bathroom when we arrived); heating was difficult to manage - would reset throughout the night to about 23 degrees which was far too warm.
