Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandThe bed was small. The room had no air conditioning so it got very hot in the room.
The location was perfect and the rooms were clean. It was ok for how much we paid for it.

ItalyThe bathroom was really too small, especially the washbasin. Wifi was not working very well in our room and there was no air conditioning.
Perfect location in a nice spot very close to the city center, just 5 minutes walking. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast amazing. The room was clean and cozy. We arrived earlier than check in time but they stored our luggage for the day.

LatviaProblems with access to the hotel, since the code of the door, did not work properly in the first two days. Very steep stairs: you need to carry your bag to the second floor. The absence of any chair and a table in the room. Fortunately, the staff of the hotel was very kind and permitted to work with the PC in the restaurant.
The breakfast was very charming and in a very nice atmosphere! Although the double room was rather small, it was completely enough for one person. A teapot, tea, and coffee bags were provided. A window looked to the yard, therefore tourists on the street did not interrupt my sleeping at night. A room was cleaned each day and the staff was very friendly.

AustraliaReally beautiful quirky hotel in the historic centre of Brugge. The building is heritage listed so don’t expect conventional hotel room. Given the space limitations it’s very well appointed. Yes the shower is in the bedroom. But the rooms are spotless with all amenities. The staircase is a bit daunting initially but is really beautiful and adds to the atmosphere of the hotel.

United KingdomThe advert on booking.com says “including taxes” however after booking I noticed there were still additional taxes to be collected by the hotel and this feels slightly misleading of booking.com
Great location, easy to get to from the station and then a couple of minutes walk from the Markt. Small but clean and functional bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Was running late so missed check in window, was sent instructions on how to get in and where my room was which was appreciated.

EgyptThe room was so small and the shower had a clear door. There was no room to put our luggage and the (double) bed was too narrow to fit 2 people comfortably. Our room overlooked nothing, blocked by other buildings (first floor).
The staff was super helpful and gave us a map to explore around us. The location is amazing, right above a chocolate shop with all the other major shops within a 5 min walking distance. The building gave a very authentic vintage vibe.

CanadaIt should be noted that the staircase is quite steep, so if you have mobility issues (or very heavy luggage) you should consider asking for a room on a lower floor.

United KingdomNothing really. The facilities are limited but that is reflected in the cost. You go to the chocolate shop next door when you arrive who then open the hotel for you and check you in. So there is no bar etc. but you have a key that gives you 24 hour access. The only point to note is that the stairs are narrow and in a steep spiral. There is no lift. If you have difficulty with stairs this will not be the hotel for you.
Location excellent, right in the town. Rooms good size, clean and tidy. Did not have breakfast - seemed a little expensive as only wanted a coffee and croissant/waffle which is easily available in town - but many other guests did and it looked fine.
