Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaNot enough staffing. No one there when we arrived, we had to wait until 15:00 and then no one knew if room was ready. Poor facilities in room for a 4 star hotel. This us more like a 3 star.

NetherlandsQuality of the sheet of the bed and the pillow. People at the desk.
Unfortunately we were not satisfied at all from our night at M Hotel. The structure is basically quite old with some new items introduction (modern lamp, wallpaper), that completely don’t match with the previous existing finishing. One of our window was broken and we couldn’t close it. Internet was super slow, so if you have to work forget about fast query’s. But the most annoying things were: the bed, in particular the pillow and the sheet; the service at the desk and the fact that they let us pay the full breakfast even if one of us took only an espresso (charged us 22 euro!).

Belgium1) Room allocation: I booked two rooms: 1 with king bed and 1 with twin beds. I contacted the hotel a few days prior to our arrival: this was confirmed. Upon checking-in, I asked again and was provided with the room keys: 1 king, 1 twin. Turned out that both rooms had king beds. We directly requested a room change which was granted but turned out to be two separate beds put together with a king size mattress topper. Went back to the reception and were told that Housekeeping will split the beds up. We went out for dinner and upon our return, the modifications were not made. Only then (after the 6th request) did the Night Auditor split the beds up by himself. 2) Breakfast was chaotic: the hotel was probably at full capacity (or almost). Buffet was not restocked on time and people were queuing awaiting for restocking. A little waiting time is understandable, but they were clearly understaffed/unprepared. Given the "restricted" number of seats at the breakfast area, it could have been foreseen to prepare the restaurant area for breakfast instead of preparing it for dinner. 3) (minor event, but this adds to the list) Bar: we had drinks very late on Thursday evening and left just before the closing. Our glasses and bottles were still on the table outside the next day until past 11:00am. 4) Check-out: we mentioned the above to the receptionists (both apologised) and asked if any gesture could be arranged for our inconveniences, and "unfortunately" only the manager can take that decision. Guess who was not working that day? There was also no Manager-on-Duty to make the call. When we asked the receptionist who was supposed to take decisions in this case, he said it was up to them (Front desk) and that he decided not to give us money, otherwise the manager would be mad at him... As a former Assistant Front Office Manager, I am still speechless that I have not yet been contacted by said Manager.

GermanyStaff at reception was too junior for my taste on not able to answer all questions. Room was way too hot and could not be regulated. Colleague had another room that was way too cold and asked if the room could be regulated in temperate staff at reception responded, that the hotel either has very hot or very cold rooms. Hotel in general is not in good shape and needs a complete revamp starting from the underground floor, gym, garage and rooms. We will go back there because of the location only though. Parking for Eur 15/night is excessive. There are several e-charging stations in the garage but they are not connected. Would be good if those could be connected soon.

BelgiumThe room with view on the public park was very noisy due to music at the bar, people in the park in mid of the night with no action from Hotel staff + Music at the bar until midnight ... The floor of the room has never been cleaned up, never vacuumed of cleaned with water. There are no windows large enough to allow sufficient ventilation No water in the fridge and no possibility to do a cup of coffee at our arrival. The curtains were partially detached, the rooms is nice but need a few repairs. (paper on the wall detached) The (too expensive) breakfast may be improved with really quality products, and the cold chain has to be respected. Especially for the cold meats and cheese. As the breakfast is available until 10am, unavailability of brown breath at 9:15 is not acceptable. No dedicated parking for the guest at hotel.
Hello, Kindness and survivability of the staff . 1st point the personnel is kind and helpful. Thank you for taking care of our bikes during the night 27-28/7. Room are big enough. Sanity security were OK. Central location of the hotel and view to the lake.

United KingdomThere were very limited staff members on to cover the bar and restaurant. We only had 1 drink with our evening meal which took 3 hours to get 3 courses. There was our table of 6 plus 2 other tables of 2. Only 1 vegetarian option on the menu. Service and the food was sadly very disappointing. We actually cancelled our restaurant reservation for the 2nd night and ate elsewhere. We all slept with our windows open as the rooms were very warm in January and the air con did not work.
The location was excellent especially having dogs to walk around the lake. Reception staff were very helpful and the Cava on arrival was a nice touch. Rooms were nice but the beds are not ideal. Doubles had a topper over 2 single mattresses and you ended up rolling in to middle of them. I like a softer mattress but these were exceptionally soft even for me. Car park was ok. Yes, it's 15e for 24 hours but that wasn't a problem.

SwedenThe AC was very flimsy and annoying and a bit disappointing. It took a while for it to cool down the room and the tube that exhausted all of the hot air was taped on to a window and fell off several times. I had also hoped for a view over the lake but that was fine.
The room was nice. It had a bath and was very clean.
