Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

It is impossible to capture the magical essence of this fantastic guesthouse in words here. It was one of the most tranquil places we have ever stayed. Alexandre and her grandson David were amazing hosts! Alexandre’s food was so delicious and looking after her guests’ every need was always her priority. Nothing was too much trouble - she provided the most delicious lunch when we arrived several hours early and always went the extra mile to make us feel nurtured and welcome. Vladimir drove us to the monastery himself as buses are infrequent now - the whole family is amazing and we loved staying here.

United StatesParking is on a very steep hill, which was a little tricky, but the hostess came out right away on both arrival and departure to help guide us in and out of our spot. No elevator, but that’s common in Bulgaria - just be aware if you are travelling with someone who has trouble with stairs.
Convenient, comfortable, and very clean guest house in Rila, about 20-30 minutes down the mountain from the Rila monastery. The hostess was very kind and helpful, in spite of the lack of a common language. Breakfast and dinner were extra, but abundant and very reasonably priced. Cash only (euros or leva). The rooms (we had two) were spacious and extremely clean, and the heat worked well. No toiletries provided, but that’s not surprising at a guest house. There’s an outside area that looks like it would be very pleasant in warm weather. Overall a very good and extremely reasonably priced accomodation in Rila. (There’s a very pretty and sweet resident cat named Caesar as well :)

United KingdomIt's a great location, off the main road so it's quiet, and a walkable distance from everything in town. The host was extremely nice and helpful, opening for lunch just for us and making special arrangements when we forgot something in the hotel. She even gave us beautiful painted eggs for easter! We are very grateful and would happily stay again!

ItalyThe Centaurus Family Hotel is cosy and pleasant we were impressed by the cleanliness and extreme attention to details; the keeper, Alexandra and her nephew, are nice and helpful. We had for breakfast tea, salty and sweet palacinka they were very tasty and we had a cold dinner, all was very tempting and appetizing. There is an inside restaurant and a beautiful space outside under a vine pergola perfect to sit and have a meal during the hot summer. Rila Monastir is about 15 km and nearby is possible to hike. Don't forget to visit also St. Ivan Rilski Cave that is few kilometers from the Monastir. We regret we stayed there only a day.

Czech RepublicAll is perfect!
This is probably the best accommodation we have ever been in 30 years of traveling. The owner family are just inceredible. The 16-year-old grandson David speaks a perfect Spanish, Catalan and is learning English. He is very helpful and likes talking to guests. The grandmother is a warm-hearted person and an excellent chef, so it is worth visiting her restaurant even if one does not stay there. She realizes that foreigners may have a hard time understanding Bulgarian, so she speaks very slowly and clearly and it is easy to communicate with her. Not only have they Christian icons, but also Buddist statues in the house, which is very brings about a pleasant environment The room is very clean and quiet, with a breathtaking view of the town and the mountains. It outdoor restaurant has a traditional Bulgarian atmosphere. Do not miss to visit this place!

United KingdomThe only thing we didn't like was having to leave! Everything exceeded our expectations.
The pictures do not do the place justice. The out side is pretty unassuming, but once you enter the courtyard you encounter a hidden gem. The room was perfect for our needs - good size with a double bed and wet room, and a balcony with the most beautiful view of the valley that never failed to move us. There is no a/c (and we weren't expecting it) but we the walls are nice and thick so the inside remained cool, despite it being in the mid 30's outside. The hostess, Alexandra, was absolutely wonderful. She made us feel so welcome and looked after, and always greeted us warmly. I wish we could have spent more time there, definitely our favourite place in Bulgaria. The on-site restaurant is fantastic - the food was authentic, local and super tasty. Best fish I have had in a while. If you get the chance, I whole heartedly recommend staying at the Centaur.
