Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIn our experience, there are no negatives to the St. John the Baptist Hotel and we'd have no hesitation in staying there again upon returning to Nessebar.
First visit to Bulgaria (UK couple). We'd already stayed in 3 other hotels (in Sophia, Varna and Kavarna), so had some comparisons. Hotel St John is located on one of the main streets in Old Nessebar, which is largely pedestrianised, with the occasional car, van or scooter passing by. It's quiet, being set back from the road, behind the ancient church of St. John. We stayed 4 nights (19-23 June '23) and received a warm welcome. We were delighted with our 3rd (2nd in Bulgaria) floor room with a sea view. Be warned, the seagulls can be rowdy at times - earplugs may be needed for light sleepers! The room was fairly spacious, spotlessly clean and with a large, comfortable bed and a mini safe with a key. Plenty of drawers, coathooks, wardrobe and luggage space, two cushioned stools, a glass-top table and bedside cabinets. Complementary items comprise 2 pods for the coffee machine and sugar (tho no milk) and a 1.5l bottle of mineral water daily. Extra coffee pods and items from the mini bar are available to buy. Our room tariff included a lovely cooked breakfast (various options) with ample toast, Bulgarian specialities, fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee. Dinner (also included) consisted of 3 courses and a complementary soft drink. Other drinks are available to buy. There's a lot to choose from and the food is tasty and plentiful. All of the staff seemed kind, friendly and attentive, though some were a little more reserved (perhaps due to language issues). NB. A couple of the restaurant staff wore hearing aids, so clarity and patience are helpful when ordering food/drinks. A real treat for us was free use of the steam room, sauna and infrared sauna - just give the receptionist 20-30 minutes' notice before you want to use any of them. Massage service is also offered at very reasonable rates.

United KingdomPillows were not to my liking, would have preferred a better quality. Had to ask for more coat hangers as there was only 2 in our wardrobe. These were bought to our room straight away. Just minor details.
Great location in the old town and easy to get to the surrounding areas by walking, bus or taxi. Friendly helpful staff, especially as our plane was delayed and we arrived early hours of the morning. Receptionist was keen to make sure we were fed and watered before retiring to bed. Breakfast and evening meal offered plenty of choice with great portions and efficient service. Room was always clean and spacious enough for us staying for the week.

PolandGreat place to stay in Old Town Nessebar. So kind, talkative staff. Always try use some forefingers words after ask "where are u from" it's really nice. Hotel offer breakfast (choose one from menu list + juice and tea/coffee + fruits plate + plate with local cake) and dinner (choose from menu: starter, main and dessert + soft drink/tea/coffe, glass of wine u can order extra for 6 bgn) so your craving can be satisfied and u can save some cash coz don't need eat too much on lunch somewhere outside ;) Room service is daily, u will get new towels and water. I'm satisfied after my staying there and highly recommend if u are looking for place to sleep in Nessebar.

United KingdomSome confusion and/or delays with restaurant service Food was good but inexplicably delayed on occasions and courses not served together and once starter and main at the same time for one guest but nothing for second guest! Clearer menu in English showing all food and wine options would help
