Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOnly issue was payment--had to go get cash from an ATM b/c host does not accept credit or debit card payment, or web-based pay options other than Interac. It would be a lot easier if host took these forms of payment; he could pass on fees to customers.
A bed & breakfast inn & art gallery on a river. Great place to kick off your cycling tour on the Petit Train du Nord. Host was very welcoming & kind despite the language barrier. Our room was super comfy, clean & with a balcony overlooking the river. We enjoyed the breakfast on the patio & the host's presentation of his art work (we asked).

CanadaThe photos don't do this place justice ... in other words, WAY better than depicted in the photos!
Charming, restful, nature-filled, quiet, delicious breakfasts ... WONDERFUL!! --- We stayed for 2 nights at Gilbert's gîte -- what a heavenly spot in Mont Laurier!! We recommend without hesitation, and will be back next time for the town's annual summertime festival. Cozy room, comfortable bed & pillows, private outdoor terrace overlooking the fabulous natural gardens on the shores of the river (Note: the sound of the waterfall is constant, day & night, which we LOVED!). Gilbert is a soft-spoken, welcoming, respectful, well-travelled & interesting host -- he and his lovely daughter prepare wonderfully delicious breakfasts ... what a treat it was to stay with them! We highly recommend la Gîte au Pied du Courant!

CanadaWe adored the environment, beautifully decorated, very zen, quiet, I particularly enjoy calm environments. Mr.Desjardins, our host and owner of the place was great to talk to. And he makes great breakfasts, the healthy type, which I very much appreciated. We personally recommend it. Without a doubt we intend to return!

CanadaWas slightly disappointed to find that the river can't be seen or accessed from the house, and is VERY LOUD, because it's just downstream from the dam. But this did not really detract from my stay in this very comfortable and restful place.
The location was easy to find and was walkable to some stores and restaurants, including a very good one recommended by the host. Breakfast was very good, on the covered deck in the garden. The house is beautiful and my room was very nice, with a desk and chair for reading.

CanadaThis place was a pleasant surprise - everything was to my liking.
Excellent host - very friendly and accommodating, he has travelled extensively and happy to share his experiences. The decor reflects the hosts travels with many artifacts from Africa and elsewhere. The host is also a great artist so the decor is really delightful. The location is superb - very quiet by the stream yet only 10 min walk to the main street with restaurants. The beds very very comfortable and the breakfast was healthy and tasty.

United StatesThe host. We came to check in early (to just change our clothes to go for a bike ride) but he said he didn't speak English. When we came back to check in he spoke perfect English. The home looks like it is partly under construction - nothing seemed to be quite finished so it felt dirty. Upon check in we agreed to have breakfast there at 8:30am. When we got all ready to go in the morning there was nobody around so we left to go get coffee. When we got back at 8:20 he said he wouldn't give us breakfast because we had left. We said that we just went to get coffee and he was very rude and mean. Very disturbing! Definitely do not stay here!
The bed was comfortable. The deck hearing the river was nice - cannot see it but can hear it. Liked having a deck.

CanadaOn arrival, the owner requested an Interac bank transfer (no credit or debit cards) as payment had not been taken. I didn't know, but accepted, and waited until they saw the funds in their account to be allowed in. I was all wet from a +100 km bike ride under pouring rain, and I was lucky that my bank was fast. As others mentioned, breakfast is not good. I was given a small bowl of yogurt (I don't consume dairy) with strawberries, a small pancake with maple syrup and strawberries again, and filtered coffee. Travel tip: I had a yummy second breakfast at the bagel place in front of the cathedral. In particular, I didn't like an inappropriate comment from the staff, that I was provided used rubber slippers to wear inside, that I was told where to seat, what to eat, how to lock a door, and not said goodbye when I left. Hospitality is the reason I choose a B&B or a lodge over a hotel or motel.
The Gîte is a beautiful property on a very quiet location. My room was quite spacious with a view to the well-maintained garden. The few feeders around the house attracted some beautiful species in the morning.
