Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

location, many hiking trails nearby, view from balcony, very friendly staff in breakfast, single room is small but cozy and it’s enough for me, bathtub…I enjoyed a lot and hopefully I will come again in summer.

United StatesSwiss beds were as usually too soft and hot. Though it was the end of September and in the mountains, we had to leave the balcony door open to cool the room, as we do not like too warm bedding (due to the soft, sink-in-the-fluff mattresses). But that is a country specific feature found in all places we visited. The hotel is far enough for a small town from the train station, up the hill all the way, and not easy to locate at first. Those with a plenty of baggage or heavy baggage or without practice in walking have better call from Lauterbrunnen during transfer and warn the Alpenruhe. They will pick you or a baggage up at the train station. No other transport or cars except hotel service ones are permitted in Wengen. We were on the brink of closing the summer season (September 20-22), so many restaurants were preparing to close for a break until the winter season. It was hard sometimes to find where to have a dinner.
The stuff in the hotel Alpenruhe was absolutely great, characterized by respect to guests and self-respect as well with no servile behavior. The information on Booking site does not inform that Alpenruhe was the first hotel in Wengen to serve tourists. It is in great condition despite the age, but you feel yourself like in an old dignified family house. Rooms were very comfortable, of a modest but quite sufficient size. The balcony provided a way to enjoy late evening clean air with a view of a small town neighborhood and famous three mountains as a background. The batroom and shower facilities were obviously renovated as well as the furniture. Breakfasts were very conveniently served with a great choice of breads, croissants, cheeses, jams, and swiss sausages. Eggs were prepared on demand the way you liked.

IsraelThe only reason it’s not a 10/10 is the bed: It was very uncomfortable and sagging and the sheets were abnormally rough. I mean really. I slept in cheaper Budget hotels that have better sheets. So I didn’t sleep very well. It would also be awesome if they added one self service area for everyone in the BnB where you have a small fridge, microwave (Wengen doesn’t have many dining options), kettle and some tea, because you don’t have it in the rooms. However, the staff was helpful with those when asked. Everything else was awesome!
Awesome little BnB! Breathtaking views - Wengen has the best in all the area! The view from the balcony was stunning! I loved how quiet and authentic Wengen felt compared to other villages in the area. The staff was super helpful and kind, breakfast was tasty. Good value for money. I liked that there are baths in the rooms, so you can take a bath after a long day of hiking. The fact that there are shower curtains didn’t bother me because I just used the bath and not the shower. I had the single room and it was large enough for me. There isn’t a 24/7 front desk but they were very responsive to phone calls (please note check in is only until 20:30).

United StatesThe balconies are divided by a chain. So you see who is sitting right next to you on all other balconies on your same floor. It would be nice to consider a different divider that provides a bit more privacy to each guest from each room while sitting in the balcony.
The hotel is located a bit further away from the center (about 9 minute walk in a small town), but it has a beautiful panoramic point if you choose to have a room with a view to the mountains. They offer transportation from train station if we wanted, but we declined. the hotel is up the hill, so you might want to consider if you have load or prefer not to walk. The room is ok. Has a private bathroom (small but complete), a small closet, the beds, and a small TV and a small wall table and two chairs. So while it has all you need, this is really a small room, we realized that a 13-14 square meter is too small a room for us. It's a lesson we learned for us personally. The best part of the room is the balcony, that opens to Manlinchen, the Mountains and even you can see a bit of the Lauterbrunnen valley. Sitting there was a joy. The beds and the pillows were very comfortable. The TV had a really good selection of channels in multiple languages. Breakfast was really good, and they made good eggs on demand. Staff was really helpful and ready to answer questions we had.

AustraliaThe location of Alpine Rhue Vintage Hotel at the top of the town (Wengen) provided a breathtaking view of the alps (including Jungfrau) from the balcony doors. The premium room was spacious and comfortable. The cable car from Wengen to Mannlichen is mandatory in your visit. You can take a second cable car at the top through the valley to Grindewald for even more spectacular scenery. There was not many people (early September) around so we had the Alps to ourselves.

United KingdomThe hotel is on a rather steep slope - it’s not a problem when we checked in as we were picked up in a van but inevitably we had to climb the slope a few times during our stay - there are no taxis in Wengen as it is a car free town. This may be a challenge for those who are very unfit or with disability. Room size is on the smaller side (ours was 16m2) - but I felt there was enough room for the two of us
Fabulously friendly staff - Alin who picked us up from the train station and checked us in as well as Kristina and Gana who looked after us at breakfast were all so very pleasant and made us feel at home AMAZING views from our balcony - we woke up to the quintessential Swiss Alps view every morning!

United KingdomGreat views and great staff! The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable. About an 8-min walk uphill from the Wengen train station but it was enjoyable. They had a few board games and many design magazines/books available in the library for when the weather isn’t cooperating. Thank you Hotel Alpenruhe!
