We stayed at "Marguerite" room #10. Bath tube and and shower is weird and uncomfortable for shower. The light on the hall to the main door is a moving-sensor and there is no door between the hall and where the beds are, so anytime anyone goes to the badroom in the middle of the night the light goes on and wakes everybody. The light turns out after 5 minutes automatically. Just put a switch to turn off manually as well.

Ideal location, couldn't be better. Despite not having parking the closest public parking works perfectly. Friendly staff and very "Swiss-like" hotel.

Pretty hotel, as if in a post card. Being able to stroll in the center of the medieval town late in the evening and early in the morning were special treats. Our room was small but lovely, extremely clean and appropriate for an overnight stay in the medieval town of Gruyere. Staff was very welcoming.

The curtains were quite thin and did not block the sun at all, so if you need darkness to sleep, bring a sleep mask. One night the smell of fondue was coming in the room.

The hotel was in old town of Gruyères, so excellent location for the castle, the museums etc. The breakfast was a buffet with meat, cheeses, cereal, croissants and fresh bread. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant had a good variety of dishes and not just fondue. The room was clean, with an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Shampoo/shower gel and soap was provided. During the day you could hear the visitors in the square of Gruyères, but at night it was quiet.

The hotel is in the village of Gruyère, a walled medieval village that is a popular tourist location in southern Switzerland. The town is lovely, with cobblestone streets, a central fountain, and a fortress castle. The Hotel de Ville and restaurant was one of many along the one Main Street and was high on charm and quaint-ness. It had a small elevator to get our suitcases up to the 2nd floor. The room itself was nice with a comfortable bed and adequate lighting with the street-facing window. But with charm come issues. The street itself is closed at 9:30 AM so that meant hauling your bags up a hill from the parking lot and down across cobblestone street to the hotel. Although we could drive the car in the next morning to load up closer, you then had to remove the car before the street barriers went up at 9:30. There is no way to get hot water for tea in the room. Hot water for showers was not available till 7:30 am.

Perfect location in the middle of the old town. In walking distance to shops/restaurants, castle, as well as the Gruyeres cheese factory down the hill. Clean, comfortable, cozy. Free wifi. Many places seemed closed perhaps due to the season (January) and/or COVID-19, so we had a bit of trouble finding a place to eat breakfast that was under 15 CHF--We ended up happily eating at the cheese factory in the morning before catching the train out of town. The hotel serves breakfast, but it was just outside our budget. The hosts seemed very nice and welcoming.

The fridge in the room was an industrial (bar) fridge shining with bright neon when on. No dedicated receptionist - the reception is served by the restaurant staff that might not have full knowledge of the system. Comprehensible instructions were not provided regarding parking options upfront, had to improvise but in the end the staff were very helpful with instructions regarding the remote public parking functionning

The bathroom does not provide proper ventilation and it is difficult not to water the floor of the bathroom while taking a shower, because of how the shower is oriented. Otherwise it was a very nice stay, slept really well in a very calm environment with tremendous view.

Mildew in shower, small shower/WC, asked for toilet paper since we had barely enough for one cost, never got it. Had to look in storage supply cabinets to find one. Breakfast was not replenished despite non hotel guests eating. Felt like we were being rationed on food and basic needs.

Quiet, clean bedding and quality mattress. Rustic, authentic, but had a lift.
