How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Rooms aren't that impressive considering the price, but excellent comfy bed, linens and bathroom compensate, the latter with Occitane products. Free coffee/tea station in the lobby area.
Good central location, between historic heart of the city and the main railway station. Very happening restaurant on the ground floor but the bedrooms are quiet. You get a free pass on local transport in the price of your accommodation. Special mention should be made of the breakfast which is excellent, with an impressive range of continental provisions and the unique self serve scrambled egg machine! Staff are all charming and helpful.

The room was a bit smaller than expected. With all the decorations in the room it felt a bit clustered and my husband kept hitting his head against chandelier/table/bed legs.
The location was convenient and perfect. 9 mins from Basel main train station and about 7-10 mins to the shopping streets. The room was very clean and stylish. Staff were friendly and professional. All the products used in the bathroom were all good quality.

Superb design- was a little puzzled by a reviewer who compared it to a prison! A sophisticated, well organised room with full width windows and window seat. Beautiful bed linen- like sleeping in clouds. breakfast was carefully curated and fresh. The baristas made great coffees on request. Sauna was also very good. Location was an easy walk from Basel SBB and very close to main shopping streets.

Not really. Maybe,,. the hotel garage was too narrow, was not easy to park our SUV,
Breakfast was nice. Recommend to use waffel machine, it's really yum!! All staff was super freindly and helpful. Location was perfect to walk around the city. Also room condition was nice.

Lovely atmosphere in the hotel, the breakfast was fabulous and the bar great for a drink in the evening. Loved the library too. Easy walk into the centre of Basel.

Nothing, it was all fabulous.

Great boutique style hotel. Lots of thought went into making it fun and useful. The Library Club was a great add-on, had a private lounge area with drinks that was really great. Bar was very nice as well. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Definitely would stay again.

The only suggestion would be to add colours to our rooms. The walls were all grey and the cushions also had cold colours so it would help in the winter time ;) Everything else was perfect
Great to be able to privatise the sauna, the location was ideal, the gym and breakfast were great too and the beds were comfy. The library is a big plus as well.

Nothing I really enjoyed my stay.
Room was lovely and modern. Bed super comfortable. Really good hair/body wash. Shower was excellent. Staff were great and the gym/ sauna very good. 10 minute walk from the train station or easy to get a tram close to it. The outside of the hotel was very festive for Christmas and stunning.
