We had some confusion about our options for dinner that we were unable to figure out due to a language barrier. We weren't aware that half pension was an option for hotel guests, so we ended up having to order from the menu when we would have enjoyed the set meal. If this option could be better communicated to guests at check in, that would be helpful!

The beds were super comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. We especially enjoyed the fresh honeycomb right out of the frame! The shared shower and bathroom facilities were very clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and worked with us to communicate well despite our limited knowledge of Swiss German.

Bring earplugs - since it’s a historic wood building you hear everything happening in the whole building

It's not really bad, but be aware that: there is no mobile, connection and supermarket in the area. The WiFi was only available in the common area. Sockets are only in the hall too. Also, the mattress was too solid for me, but that's what you expect from a mountain hotel

Very good location with a nice view of a waterfall (in June), exceptionally clean, the shared toilets and bathroom could be a standard for any other ones I stayed in. Old historical hotel in a non touristy area. Very good destination if you want to travel unwind in a quiet and picturesque place. Be aware that not all personnel can speak English, but they anyway were very nice and did their best, thank you for that!

Rooms are bare bones. No shower or sink. Common showers in the hallway. Half the menu was not available and waiter did not know it.

There are limited & shared shower facilities in the property but great showers when you get to use the facilities.

Walking the Via Alpina route so very good stop off as just off the route by a few metres. Very rustic property nicely done up but lots of creaking floorboards!

There were no power outlets available in the room. Not many options for dinner if you are not eating meat.

The location was amazing with the feeling of being in the mountains in the wooden chalet. Friendly staff made our stay super pleasant & nice breakfast gave energy for another day hike.

Location is superb, in a vicinity of roaring waterfall. Hotel maintained in its original alpine character. Though the facilities are new and spotless. The staff is extra nice and goes additional mile to make your stay even more pleasant.

Politely asked the manager if we could eat our own food (i.e. picnic outside) on the table in the grounds. He refused and aggressively told us we had to go to our rooms to eat. Beds were v uncomfortable and the whole building creaked so everything someone moved, we were woken up

nothing I didn’t like, but maybe a heads up: it gets quite cold at night, so additional warm clothes are recommended. house is very old so you can hear every move; if you have a light sleep, oropax might be a good thing to bring.

the setting is spectacular, if you’re looking for a remote place to wind down. mountains, waterfalls and green hills. staff is all very professional and friendly. rooms are cozy and rustic. I’m not a fan of shared bathrooms but here it was really okay, very clean and new

The shared bathrooms were not clean. The twin room that we got was very congested and not comfortable. We requested a first floor room as my old mother struggled with 2 flights of old staircases, but this was not possible.

Hotel Waldrand - is an exceptional historic hotel in an incredible setting. Everything was perfect. We particularly appreciated the low-key nostalgia feeling to it.

I had a very nice stay here. My single room was basic but very nice and clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of space with a closet. The shared bathroom was very clean. The showers were excellent and spotless with a heated floor. Breakfast was excellent. A good selection of meats, fruit, bread, cereal and beverages. Dinner was very good also. The WiFi was very good. Good location. Nice setting in the mountains. By foot, 15 to 20 minutes to village center and bus stop and 15 minutes from the Via Alpina. Staff very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel! We have been hiking the Via Alpina and stay in the hotel Waldrand one night. Griesalp has been my favourite village from all places we have visited in Alps. So peaceful and romantic! The hotel is luxurious, modern and traditional at the same time. Delicious breakfast and dinner, and very friendly staff. I wish we could stay here longer!
