Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongIf you order the breakfast set, you could get different items each time. That was a bit confusing but not a big deal at all
The staff was so nice, patient and helpful. Food was nice and the atmosphere is very charming

Hong KongAll their staff were so amazing and went out of their way to take care of my family and I. They’re super helpful and their service was absolutely top notch. I love how they have their on site restaurant and served great western and Chinese food which meant we could pretty much choose to stay in the hotel all day long if we wanted to. It made meals for kids a lot easier and stress free! The small touches pushed the experience over the top - when I brought an apple to the courtyard for breakfast they immediately asked if I wanted it peeled and cut!

FranceThe site is beautiful, the staff super nice. This hotel is perfect for a family with kids. There is space to run around, the swimming pool is easy to access with a nice view on the mountains. Our children enjoyed playing with the 2 rabbits owned by the hotel, they can feed them etc.. The staff does everything to simplify your stay, from the daily service, to the organization of some activities. You can rent bikes to discover the area. The restaurant offers a large choice of meals, Chinese and western. The Chinese food on the menu is amazing (beer fish and cucumber salad as an example). I really recommend this hotel!

United KingdomThe food is a bit on the expensive side when compared to what you can get locally, but it was delicious and the location and convenience was obviously a massive advantage so can't complain too much
The building and courtyard were beautiful, it felt very special. We went in the winter and there were fires in the common areas which felt like a really nice cosy touch. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious and the furnishings were lovely. The food at the restaurant was good.

United StatesThe bed on our first night was not comfortable. Creaky floors, and you could hear the other guests through the walls. We switched to the guest house on the next night and it was much more comfortable. Highly recommend it!
The restaurant on site is amazing! Has local dishes and western choices. THe Staff are very responsive to our needs, questions, and wondering!

Great place, staff were friendly, beer was cold and the food was amazing. Situated opposite the entrance to the river walk were everyone comes from town to walk. Truely beautiful surroundings and an amazing place, fully recommended. Really appreviated how my room was already chilled by the aircon...not sweating for 20 mins waiting for the room to cool down.

BelgiumI thought the menu for diner was just too large, too much choice so the quality wasn't fantastic. That being said, there are enough options in the neighborhood, so this shouldnt stop you from having the giggling tree as your base. Mosquito season was on, but they provide enough measures against (repellent, mosquito nets...)
The courtyard is a real heaven of peace in the middle of the otherwise quite touristic neighborhoods that Yangshuo and the villages around it are. The swimming pool, the kids playroom and toys and the good breakfast were all an extra asset. The old house in se is beautiful and the fact that the staff can help you plan different trips and rent out bikes makes your stay easy.

We had a great stay at The Giggling Tree. Alice, Helene and the rest of the team were super helpfull and gave us great tips (especially one viewpoint at sunset really stood out and we would have never gotten there without Alice's help!). I would definitely come back here. Thanks so much Giggling Tree Team!

Netherlandsno bus closeby. travel by taxi or electric scooter or bike.
The Giggling hotel has great location at the Yulong river. we rented electric scooters to ride along this river. you can also ride to Yangshuo downtown. Kids like the outside swimming pools a lot. they swim twice a day. the large one is 1,40m deep. food is excellent and affordable (chinese and western). kids like the french fries with self made chicken nuggets a lot, we ate other chinese food, all very delicious (salads, eggplant, lemon chicken etc). Employees are very friendly and help with everything. Large rooms have good airconditiing, large comfortable beds (with mosquito nets if needed) and bathrooms are large and very comfortable and stylish. we also took taxi to Guilin (sevenstars park and downtown) and ofcourse we also went to ride boat on the Li river and to dazhai longji rice terraces. Swimming pool was a big suprise and big PLUS.

Netherlands- someone thought it was a good idea to build a 15 meter high hotel directly next to the swimming pool. That was a regretful choice. But it's not near the rest of the hotel, doesn't disturb the view of the nearby mountains and provides some necessary extra shadow when you take a dip, so we didn't mind it. - the state of the property is still quite good, but will soon need some maintenance. Also the pool could be somewhat cleaner.
- the personnel is very friendly and helpful, and there is always someone around who knows good English. When we were leaving, they actually gave a small neat gift for our son, that he very much likes; - you can arrange several activities there, from kayaking to rock climbing. You can also rent good quality bikes and electric scooters for a good price. We did both. You can bike a truly beautiful bike/foot path which follows the Yulong river, with locations to swim and to take a little trip on a bamboo raft. The bike ride is probably the best activity in the area, and one of the better in China; - the room was clean and spacious, with a great bathroom and shower, and good beds with mosquito nets (which actually didnt seem necessary, but watch out for the bugs in the outside space). The 2 person bed of the original room booking.com suggested for us was too small for us and our very tall 8 year old son, but the personnel immediately arranged a fitting room with two beds for us for a small surcharge; - the swimming pool made the deal for us, in particular because we were staying over in the furnace-like summer. The swimming pool is just big enough to really enjoy the swimming, and especially our son spent a lot of time there; - we consider the location as excellent, because it is really a bit out of busy Yangshuo (which is fun, but you go to a place like this for the natural beauty), and close enough to get there by cab or bike/scooter (app. 10 minutes). It is nice and quiet there, which is quite difficult to find in overcrowded China. It's also very near the aforementioned bike path and a bamboo raft harbour, and relatively near (by bike/scooter) other top locations such as Moon hill and the Gold cave; - the property of the hotel, which is housed in an old Chinese family house, has been very well renovated by the original Dutch owners, that regretfully have leaft.

United StatesWe enjoyed everything!!
Charming property! In a quiet location that is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas. The menu offered a nice variety and the food was excellent. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They arranged scooters for our use and a driver to take us back to Guilin. They made sure our granddaughters (3&4) were taken care of too. The amount of activities they offer is impressive! Unfortunately, our stay was short so we were not able to take advantage of the wide range of activities... I wish we had more time to partake in the offerings.

ChinaWe visited The Giggling Tree based on the recommendation of a couple of friends and we’re very glad we did so. The hotel’s open area gives it a little village feel and the delightfully friendly staff, the rooms’s wooden floors and traditionally styled decor, and the picturesque scenery give it a charm difficult to match. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend.

We've tried to stay here for years but Covid has always prevented this. The location is very beautiful and the rooms are quaint. Alice is amazing, she is a fantastic person and helps wherever possible. You can hire mopeds or she can arrange taxis, anything you need. The rest of the staff there were great as well, the pool was small but nice after a day in the heat.

ChinaConstruction next to pool spoiled the best impressions of the hotel, was practically impossible to swim cause rocks were falling to the pool. I would strongly suggest the staff to work with catering APP, we were dozen times asked for our room number while taking orders, a very simple APP will make that process smooth!
I loved the location, friendly staff, amazing design and good food!
