It's odd not having a safe and secure way of allowing fresh outdoor air into the room. A major oversight in the design of the bungalows.

Beds were too soft for our taste and the bath felt a bit stuffy and could have used a ventilation.

What a fantastic 5 day stay we had at Arenal Manoa. The staff are all wonderful, from our housekeeper to the pool bar staff, dining room breakfast and dinner staff, front desk, and the shuttle drivers. Our room had a fantastic view of the volcano and we were lucky to see the entire volcano on several days during rainy October. We saw Toucans in the tree by the lower pools one day. We reserved a couple activities with the resort- Tubing down the river and the Night walk. Both were wonderful. The front desk helped to get a taxi for us to other activities too. Because it was raining several afternoons and most evening during our stay we made use of the resort shuttle to get from our room up the hill above the upper pools and main Restaurant. Those drivers were always prompt in picking us. We found the food at the pool area pizza oven , sushi at the lower pool, and breakfast and one evening dinner at the main restaurant to be delicious. Especially the evening dinner at the main restaurant. Wow! Be sure to order the flaming volcano dessert. Delicious and such fun. The rooms are 2 units per small building. We were in the deluxe junior suites at the top of the resort above the large pool and main restaurant. The beds are very comfortable and and the rooms are clean and spacious. It’s a long walk up hill , but this worked perfect for our family as we had 2 adjoining rooms. It’s all very private with our own private patio facing the volcano. There are so many fun activities in the area. It’s easy to take a taxi to them if transportation is not included. We hiked at the Arenal Observatory Lodge ( great lunch there too), Mistico Hanging Bridges, LaFortuna Waterfall, Bogarin sloth Trail guided tour, cooking and dance class with DeSafio tours, Proyecto Asis animal rescue guided tour and volunteer and a tour at Don Olivo Chocolate ( and fruit galore and coffee). Everything was a just wonderful.

Our refrigerator did not work during our stay.

Location was amazing. Staff so friendly and always happy to help. Hot springs were good. Breakfast was good. Spa service was amazing.

We would have liked a little more counter space in the bathroom or maybe a couple of shelves. The mattresses were a little uncomfortable, like maybe ours needed to be changed out. And the bed creaked some which I don't mind except when I'm trying to quietly go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and not wake my friend.

Our room was absolutely gorgeous and the view was breathtaking! It was in the back facing a little courtyard that had a fountain. My friend and I throughly enjoyed sipping our coffee in the early morning on our rocking chairs, listening to the fountain and looking at the volcano (when it was not covered by clouds, lol). Every day when we got back to the room, we had a new towel art to enjoy. And we found chocolates in our mini fridge! The bathroom was so cute with the little plant. We had the type of room that had a counter with another sink which really helps when it's 2 women trying to get ready. The staff was so incredibly friendly. The property overall was just gorgeous. We also got massages in the spa and it was one of the best I've ever had! It faced a small river. Spas try to emulate running water and we got the real thing! The grotto was really nice. Word of advice, if you are curvy and need a bigger bathrobe, just ask. We didn't find out they had bigger ones until our last day. They just fit but we wish we'd known about the bigger ones.

The mattress was soft and obviously worn already so it was not the most comfy sleep I have ever had.

There was no on site store where one could purchase bottled water or snacks and getting out was challenging unless you had a car

Only one of the thermal pools was set in a 'natural' setting. More pools like this (instead of swimming pool style) would position this hotel as 5 star.

We would highly recommend that they change the fluorescent lighting in the room. That is the comment. I’ve seen over and over again when I was booking it myself and when you get in the room you’ll see what I mean it definitely just kind of gives it to Stark environment for a bedroom that you wanted to kind of relaxin. Also, the bed could’ve been a little more comfortable

It was just a beautiful setting we couldn’t have asked for more. Breakfast was amazing. And I love how they folded the towels into little animals every night. It was such a nice touch and the view from having breakfast was spectacular. You could just sit there and watch the iguanas climbing on the trees and see the volcano behind.

The main restaurant was a little warm , even tough is wide open to nature during lunch time it felt hot . Would be nice if they add ceiling fans .

The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the view of the Volcano from our suite , the staff was outstanding, from the second that we checked in until we checked out they were so pleasant and helpful. Special shout-out to Shirleney and Evelyn in the front desk , Carla in the restaurant and our housekeeper.

the place is beautiful, has the vulcano view and nice hot springs. there is also a creek by the massage place but with no access and you can’t swin apparently due to caimans.

They only have a thermal small pool and a jacuzzi, prob is that in the eve can be a bit busy around the pool so you can’t just relax there and go for a swim.

Lovely views of the vulcano, food in the restaurant is good, the rooms are nice and clean, staff is super friendly and helpful, the grounds are cool- feels like one is in the middle of a jungle, pretty secluded.

The views from the window in our room was priceless. Great breakfast served in a beautiful deck overlooking the Arenal mountain. The room is spotless, large and convenient. And the sunken bar in the thermal pool, was amazing. The food in the bar was good too.

The shower needs to have a shower wand. Would have been nice to have a hot water kettle.
