    I requested my room to get cleaned, with the sign on the door, and was told not today. But then I asked again to the same lady, she said someone would come. I had the sign up for service, not sure what else to do.

    - staff were nice but felt a little understaffed - air conditioning in the gym not very good

    The information provided at the lobby, no recommendations, no help with inquirings; There was only one person every day the entire day doing his best but overloaded with all.

    - I loved the pools each one with different temperature - The staff in the restaurants, pool service, cleaning staff and bar are just amazing - The food at restaurants was excellent.

    Upon Check In there was very little information given to us about the amenities on the property.

    Property needed to be cleaned better generally. It also needed refurbishment as it's dated now. I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't for the expense. I feel that other reviews giving 1* are very harsh, but it was poor value for money.

    it’s tough to see it struggling post covid, so many staff gone, remaining staff are doing their very best to plug the holes

    the staff were not really friendly and I could not understand anything with the mask. internet procedure was not explained properly. had to phone IT and that’s not right. prefer more secure bathroom door. banging pipes at night woke us. maids in hallway speaking loud woke us. rooms are cramped. buffet breakfast was cold.

    the bed was so comfortable. shower and bath easy to operate. great restaurant choices.

    Room service: I have frequented the hotel over the last two years and noticed a decline in the room service. The pasta was cold, with no salt and pepper, fast food packets of mayonnaise, and ketchup. In addition, the room service was not up to the standard I experienced on previous visits.

    Location, style, cleanliness, comfortable were all great.

    There were a few small disappointments during our stay, which didn't really affect us as we were here for one night before our flight home. We went to the spa and could tell it hadn't been used properly in a long time (the sauna wasn't turned on, towels weren't put out and the small outdoor pool was dirty). This is partly because the spa was off limits during the pandemic, but in my opinion a hotel like this should either close the spa until it is up to standard, or make sure it is up to standard before re-opening. The breakfast buffet was hard to navigate because waiters have to get your food for you. I don't speak Spanish and the waiters we dealt with spoke poor English, so it was hard work! I respect that the hotel is doing its best to keep people safe, but think it would have been better to do something like a small menu to order from, or asking guests what they would like for breakfast the night before. The rooms are modern but the TV had no apps like Netflix or Apple TV, which seemed odd. There was a cool wind during our stay: it didn't feel like the heating was turned on in the outdoor pools, so we didn't use them. The pools are a big selling point for the hotel, so this was the one issue that was quite disappointing.

    We stayed here the night before our return flight to London, and wanted a classic and luxurious hotel. The Intercontinental delivered: it felt fairly priced, grand and luxurious in most areas, and very clean. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom was great and the Italian restaurant we ate it was very good. Room service was also great.

    I scheduled room cleaning service for 1pm and my COVID test at 4pm. We left our room after lunch to allow our room to be cleaned and returned at 4pm. When we returned, our room was not cleaned, and I discovered that my COVID test was cancelled because I was not in the room at 3pm to confirm the COVID test appointment I scheduled that morning. Both eventually got done but I was annoyed at the delays and that we had to leave our room again.

    We stayed at the Intercontinental the last 2 days we were in Costa Rica. It is located next to the mall for convenient shopping but was much further from the airport than anticipated. We stayed at the Club Tower Room and enjoyed the complimentary happy hour drinks and snacks.

    Reception staff could have been a bit more attentive and helpful overall.

    Breakfast and meals were really good, staff in restaurants were very friendly and helpful.
