Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The pasta was cold, with no salt and pepper, fast food packets of mayonnaise, and ketchup. In addition, the room service was not up to the standard I experienced on previous visits.

United KingdomThere were a few small disappointments during our stay, which didn't really affect us as we were here for one night before our flight home. We went to the spa and could tell it hadn't been used properly in a long time (the sauna wasn't turned on, towels weren't put out and the small outdoor pool was dirty). This is partly because the spa was off limits during the pandemic, but in my opinion a hotel like this should either close the spa until it is up to standard, or make sure it is up to standard before re-opening. The breakfast buffet was hard to navigate because waiters have to get your food for you. I don't speak Spanish and the waiters we dealt with spoke poor English, so it was hard work! I respect that the hotel is doing its best to keep people safe, but think it would have been better to do something like a small menu to order from, or asking guests what they would like for breakfast the night before. The rooms are modern but the TV had no apps like Netflix or Apple TV, which seemed odd. There was a cool wind during our stay: it didn't feel like the heating was turned on in the outdoor pools, so we didn't use them. The pools are a big selling point for the hotel, so this was the one issue that was quite disappointing.
We stayed here the night before our return flight to London, and wanted a classic and luxurious hotel. The Intercontinental delivered: it felt fairly priced, grand and luxurious in most areas, and very clean. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom was great and the Italian restaurant we ate it was very good. Room service was also great.

United StatesI scheduled room cleaning service for 1pm and my COVID test at 4pm. We left our room after lunch to allow our room to be cleaned and returned at 4pm. When we returned, our room was not cleaned, and I discovered that my COVID test was cancelled because I was not in the room at 3pm to confirm the COVID test appointment I scheduled that morning. Both eventually got done but I was annoyed at the delays and that we had to leave our room again.
We stayed at the Intercontinental the last 2 days we were in Costa Rica. It is located next to the mall for convenient shopping but was much further from the airport than anticipated. We stayed at the Club Tower Room and enjoyed the complimentary happy hour drinks and snacks.
