Awesome place - a true jewel in the midst of the rainforest. Really nice staff, great breakfast and very cozy for just a few relaxing days with family or friends.

The shower with the partially open ceiling…we weren’t crazy about this. It didn’t feel as private as I like, and it lets in the geckos and other creatures. on the other hand it meant the room didn’t steam up and the shower and bathroom were refreshing and open, which was nice in such a hot, humid place.

Our room had a comfortable bed and linens. We had a deluxe room and it was big with a great balcony looking over tropical foliage that attracted many birds. The large roof overhang ensured that the chairs stayed dry and you could enjoy sitting outside rain or shine. The pool area was surrounded by plants which attracted hummingbirds, toucans, butterflies, and many types of frogs. The breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant is an enjoyable place to be. We did not eat dinner so I don’t know what the dinner menu or food was. I liked being able to get drinks in the evening as I often didn’t want to drink much when we were out at dinner as I was driving. The drinks at the hotel were a bit expensive, but the convenience of having the bar there was nice. The location is good, once you find it and understand where you are in relation to other attractions in the area. It is very near Fortuna Waterfall. There is a cafe next door that serves good food for lunch. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and will go out of their way to fulfill requests or solve problems. We would definitely stay again if we return to the area and happily recommend it to others.

I liked the rooms, specially the shower room, who was open to the air, means no roof, the gardens were amazing, the people very friendly and the food was excellent, was very fantastic experience, thank you very much for everything.

The whole property was beautiful, and we really liked the little walking paths where we could enjoy the birds, flowers, frogs, trees, etc. The breakfasts were great, the coffee machine was really nice to have too. Happy that they always had the containers of water and juice on the counter, so it was easy to stay hydrated. The location was excellent, we loved that we could walk right to some great hikes in the area as well as the waterfall, and a short drive into La Fortuna. We enjoyed using the pool and hot tub. The staff was very nice. Room was very clean and comfortable.

This place has a beautiful garden with birds and frogs (and a daily evening tour to see them), the room is nice with an open bath (you feel like it is open to the jungle), the staff is amazing and especially Frederick who helped us a lot. We would love to come again.

The Tifakara property was just lovely! The grounds are beautifully maintained and even though it’s situated not far from town, we felt like we were in our own secluded little paradise. We stayed in one of the modern Eco-pods and it was the perfect size for us. The bed was always made up with a special surprise “towel animal”, flowers and chocolates. The shower is enclose, but without a ceiling, so you’re surrounded by the natural sights and sounds. I loved the cozy porch where I had my morning coffee or enjoyed a legit afternoon rain forest rain (they never last long, but they’re awesome!). The food was delicious and the presentation wonderful. Most of all, the staff members were amazing!!! They bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we needed, they were over the moon friendly, and they were very knowledgeable about the region, natural surroundings, and history. We also really appreciated their suggestions on what to see and do in the area.

Great location close the the La Fotuna Waterfall. The hotel grounds are fantastic. Many cool frogs in their various ponds around the property for night exploring. When it is clear you can see the Arenal Volcano. They have the best included breakfast of any hotel I've stayed at. A robust menu with many options that are cooked to order. Fantastic.

Frederico a staff member did a guide frog tour in the garden one night. He has a lot of knowledge about frogs and it was a very very interesting tour. Birds and a lot of wild life in the garden. Best place we stayed in Costa Rica during 2 weeks. We had two nights here.

Everything here was amazing! From the coffee drink options & amazing breakfast each morning to the hospitality/friendliness of all the staff! They truly made our experience so enjoyable and one to remember! Walking distance to the waterfall…taxi drives to everywhere else! Saw a sloth, toucans, and other beautiful birds on the property! Incredible view of the volcano. Milton & Daniela were especially amazing!!

A lot of the older rooms are in dire need of an update. The hotel charges very high rates, yet our room did not live up to the cost - the actual building we were in was of very poor quality (eg. gaps in between the windows and walls, thus allowing in all sorts of bugs) interiors were extremely outdated, sink in the bathroom leaked all over the floor, the safe was broken. We complained and the staff kindly refunded us half the price of the room, but these issues should not be arising in a hotel that charges $400/ night for some of their rooms.

Some of the rooms are lovely - particularly the newer, modern bungalows. However guests should be aware that there are actually only a handful of these and most of the other rooms are much older and quite outdated. The restaurant is great, staff are very friendly and helpful and the outdoor area/ pool is beautiful. They also do a daily frog tour of the grounds which is great.

The shower was outdoor which was really cool to experience but it did gather leaves and sticks when it rained too hard. The bed was also a bit soft where we prefer a stiffer bed but overall these are very small things that can be overlooked

Breakfast was included and was really amazing with many options. The room was secluded and really made you feel like you had a private villa in the jungle. Overall the experience was wonderful and we would 100% stay again for the fantastic price.
