It was noisy at night on the back of the property with the window open and with no air conditioning I needed the window open in the warmth.

With a location next to the main station this hotel was perfect as we were also given a 3-day travel pass so could take the S2/S5 train to Dammtor for the exhibition we were at.

The style of the hotel is bit older and and and it is a bit rough around the edges. The elevators are not easy to reach. A couple of small stairs to reach them. Not so good if you have problems with that. The elevators are rather small.

The location is very good if you travel by train. Just next door to the railway station. The breakfast had a big selection of types of food. The smoked salmon did not taste good, but the waffles did.

The double bed consisted of two separate mattresses. Some people might have an issue with this. Being located next to the main station is a great advantage, but also a disadvantage due to the various social issues in the area.

As soon as I arrived late at night, I waited at the reception to check in since there were 4 other guests before me and the 2 receptionists were busy. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the male receptionist started checking me in. He must have been in training since he didn't know most of what I asked him, such as whether I would be able to use the pool during my stay. Upon going up to my room, I spent another 10 mins going around the corridors of the 5th floor, baggage in hand, because I couldn't find my room. I went downstairs to reception again and when the female receptionist saw my room number, she told me that I have to catch a lift at the back of the hotel! I told her that I was frustrated with this since the male receptionist didn't tell me to walk to the back of the hotel and catch a lift from there. He told me to use the lift right across the front desk. She kindly accompanied me to the lift. This was the only incident that bothered me. Otherwise the staff was very professional and helpful!

Right across the street from the main train station (Hamburg Hbf), it has a spa including a sauna, a bar, a gym and a swimming pool! I really liked the decor and the breakfast was delicious! Very good value for the price I paid.

I booked the accommodation via Booking a few days earlier. The price for a weekend stay was double the normal price. One day before the weekend, the price was back to normal. From my point of view, this type of business is not correct.

I would prefer not to have single -use cups for the tea and coffee. It isn't necessary and is wasteful. Perhaps just normal mugs would be better? Otherwise lovely stay, this is just a suggestion.

Reception staff seemed a bit stressed upon arrival. Bar staff did not seem to understand what I wanted. We got woken up at 9am by cleaning staff asking if the mini bar should be refilled. Strange as we were leaving that day. But overall these were minor.

We got an upgrade to a rather large room with a sofa. that was nice. Room was comfortable and there was complementary beer in the room which was unexpected. We wanted to be close to station and this was as close as could be. Breakfast was very good.
