“Hotel is right in the centre of El Escorial which is set in the mountains in beautiful countryside just outside Madrid. the town is a bit of a tourist trap but is a nice place with Philip II's palace and a lot of very pretty countryside around. The owner was very friendly and helpful and had a list of the sights to see and a guide to the best restaurants. His suggested walk up to a viewpoint was quite long and hard but well worth it. You could see the town, the palace and all the way back to Madrid, 25 miles away.”

“Reception staff good. Breakfast excellent. Room clean, but a bit stuffy and I was unable to operate the air-con, which may have been down to me rather than a faulty system. Bathroom a bit dated with no walk-in shower, but certainly acceptable for the price we paid and the shower itself was good.”
