How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Floor cleaning before our arrival could be better, the tub didn't drain very well.
A cozy apartment suitable for our purpose of stay after hiking in the mountains, quiet surroundings, close to the beach, restaurants, shops and public transport.

The tub didn’t drain properly
it was spacious and clean. location was safe and beat a two metro stops and eateries and shipping

The property management company was blocking my deposit for 14 days after I had left the flat. They utilized maximum period in the contract but I see this behavior as unfair. The house and the whole block is very bussy specially during the night. House is full of rented flats, people are comming and leaving all night very loudly. Definitly not quiet place for family stays, it would be better for students. Corridors in the house are full of strange cases with old loundry and mess. Bathroom equipment was old and very used.
A very nice old house of flats with atmosphere. The house was located in a side street out of the main street rush and it was not far from a metro station. Kitchen was quite nicely equipped.

The building is very loud, you can hear people talking in normal voice in other apartments. We were woken up in the middle of the night by loud neighbours several times. To get and to return the keys we had to go to another part of the city with the laguage. Wifi is terrible.
The location is perfect, very nice neighbourhood, close to metro station. The apartment is spacious and the beds are comfy.

Kitchen was a bit small for home cooking. Dining table was ok for one or two but would be cramped for four.
Property was clean and comfortable. Nice quiet street in the right location for me.

No waiting, no hassles. We arrived tired, so not having to wait for anything was a blessing. The apartment was clean and comfortable. It had all the necessities, cook wear, laundry facilities and air conditioning that worked great!!

ac did not work stove top did not work flylarva all around leaking toilet vase no assistance when we called host. terrible!!!!!!
very little ac , stove did not work , fly larva in bathroom toilet base leaked. Floors were filthy, neighbors were noisy a party area. when we asked for help with issues host made us contact booking.com. we put in request and received email the day we left. nothing was done. this apartment should be removed from booking.com platform. worst service ever.

There are more than 1 apartment in the building. The lovely photo you see attached to the booking - is not the flat. It was smaller and way less nice than expected and so not great value for what it was - hotel would have been better. They ignored all my emails about this matter - I could see the flat upstairs was empty but they blanked my request. Also keys have to be picked up and dropped off at their office which is far from the apartment. Would not rebook.

The air-condition in the big bathroom didn't function. The hairdryer was out of order. The toilet seat was broken. The door of the big bathroom could not be locked on. Some lights didn't function.

We rented a second apartment in Villa Olímpica directly with AB and their service turned south quickly. The apartment had a back door that did not lock therefore not safe to leave valuables or docs and there was no water supply to one of the bathrooms! The company did not disclose any of this and they did not provide fixes either. And if these deficiencies were not enough, we received an email the day after we left with bogus pictures of burned sheets and a broken plastic item that was not in our apartment and telling us that our deposit would not be returned. After a few emails back and forth they told us we are liars and that was it, great costumer service. I would encourage Bookings to investigate such abusive practices by AB to spare fellow tourists of such awful experience.
