Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCan't think of anything
Breakfast was excellent. Service was excellent. We had two different rooms, both very good but one had a superb view over Bilbao. Location is great for a one night stay if you are getting on or off thr ferry. I'm sure it is equally good for a longer stay We walked down to Bilbao, down many steps, and really enjoyed it, but baulked at the climb back later and got a taxi.

United KingdomIt was a bit of a trek into town and returning uphill would be a challenge if you’re not a keen walker. But there was a bus and taxis weren’t expensive.
Lovely views over the City. Felt comfortable and safe. Parking was easy. All round, a great place to stay.

AustriaFantastic view of Bilbao, absolutely loved our room. Ignacio was always friendly and very helpful at the concierge desk. We enjoyed the walking paths nearby and the near proximity to the funicular. A short drive by car to the casco viejo.

Czech Republicthe double room we have initially booked had regular double bed, perhaps 140cm or 160cm and we prefer large double. the room was also smaller than the one we got after. was still ok, just something to keep in mind if you prefer wider bed
we requested a room with 2 twins after checkin,, as we preferred larger double bed and they were happy to accomodate it. the offered room was large and with good facilities, nice view over the city as well. staff was very nice

United KingdomThe only drawback for me - the room was adequate but fairly small
The hotel is small, very clean, very friendly and the views over the city are stunning. The breakfast was also outstanding, with the best coffee and huge selection of goodies.

United KingdomThe fridge in the room was a little noisy; and I had to shut the window to keep out the noise of a couple of dogs barking.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Excellently located for ferry port. Centre of Bilbao within walking distance. The hotel is also on a bus route - the bus stop is on its doorstep.

CanadaOur two days were a faultless experience - could not have been any better.
Splendid, generous breakfast. Amazing view over Balboa and the entire adjacent valley. Felt like we were out in the country (which we were). Hosts gave excellent advice for access and touring Bilbao. Highly recommend Hotel Artexte to all travellers

United KingdomNothing.
A fine hotel. My room was stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kettle was a nice touch. The buffet breakfast had a great selection of good food. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill above the city. Great views and a country feel. Relying on public transport to get there, as I did, should not normally be a problem as Bilbobus A7 stops outside the hotel. Unfortunately at the time of my stay (April 2024) Bilbobuses were on indefinite weekday strike, which meant a taxi from central Bilbao or a walk from the nearest metro station - Deutsu. If walking, a free 24 hour cable car gets you from Deutsu to the hillside community of Arangoiti and the Berrizbidea path leads from there up to the hotel.

United KingdomSloping roofs in the attic apartment we were in. It was nice to have all the space but guests need to be careful not to bang their heads on the roof rafters. The shower would benefit from upgrading how it is fixed to the wall.
Good location. Excellent hosts. It’s a bit of a trek into Bilbao but we didn’t mind that as we enjoy walking. Excellent views over Bilbao. Hosts were very welcoming and communicated well in English, taking time to give advice on the best ways to get to and from Bilbao.

United KingdomIt is awkward to sightsee without a car because the bus only comes once an hour. However you can walk down into town in only 15-20 minutes then plan ahead to get the bus back (or walk uphill but may take a little longer!)

United StatesNothing in particular.
Location was not near the city, but the low cost funicula was within walking distance from the lodging. We saved time by driving to it since parking is free. We used it both days, it was very convenient and saved travel and parking in the city. It ends very near the Gugenheim Museum.

TurkeyIt was a very nice stay, our only problem was that since the room was on the top floor we couldn’t stand normally because our heads were bumping the ceiling all the time. It was a disturbing stay for our necks but apart from that everything was great.

United KingdomAll was good
The hotel was out of the city but had an excellent view of Bilboa! Great way to enjoy a city but feel like you are in the countryside. The funicular was a good 25 minutes walk from the hotel which we liked as it meant the car was safe while we explored Bilboa city. Good taxi service of an evening too! The hotel breakfast was excellent ...lots of choice and good value for 10 euros each. We would stay again when we visit Bilboa.
