Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bathrooms could be upgraded, but that's not a big deal as they fit the "cowboy" style of El Rocio.
The hotel is a typical rural mansion set in the beautiful village of El Rocio. We liked the decor, the ease of check in (self check in), the breakfast options as well as the vicinity to the centre of El Rocio.

United KingdomOlder style of hotel can produce more noise issues, which we did have, but staff were happy to move us to a quiet room and that was brilliant. Thx
Great location and very traditional in style. Staff were really helpful and breakfast service good.

SpainThe biggest problem was the room. It was small and contined almost nothing except a couple of beds, a tiny bedside table and an 'ottoman' type of box. There was a decent sized wardrobe, but no other 'surface' on which to place, for example, a laptop computer, and no chairs at all.
The beds were supremely comfortable, which was a slight surpise given the rooms they were in. The breakfast was good and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.

LithuaniaThe problem vas with the hot water in the shower. From 3 days, when I stayed there, only firs day there were hot water in the shower. I wrote a message and left in the reception, they promised to solve the problem, but finally I had to leave hotel without morning shower. And no sorry, nothing. So ....

United KingdomThe shower head needs a little attention as the water didn’t flow from it properly. Lots of nice hot water though.
We weren’t expecting the town to be so wacky. What a place. We loved the town - it was like being on a real life western film set. We didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t that. It was a great experience. We arrived at the hotel and had a fantastic welcome from the guys at the reception. Our room was very large and comfortable. I found the bed to be comfortable, but my husband found the bed uncomfortable. The town was very quiet, so parking was available just outside of the property. The town is close to a large lake where you can view many different types of birds. Just for info - but it didn’t affect us. There are no English tv channels. We used our hdmi cable and were able to watch a film from our laptop. Breakfast was nice, but quite basic. Bread, cheese, ham, donuts, cornflakes and chocolate flakes, fruit and yogurt.

SpainWhat a lovely and unique hotel ! The rooms are very nice and cosy, one thing I was missing was maybe a little table, but that's just personal preference :) the bed was very comfy, we had a bit of outside area to relax. The whole hotel and location is just fantastic. El Rocio is like any other Spanish villages I've seen, the atmosphere is just fantastic. Much much recommended ! The hosts were great, attended quickly when I asked for extra towels etc, the breakfast bar is more than enough - fresh breads, cheese, ham, jam etc. Also - a delicious coffee !

United KingdomCheck-in was awkward, there were no staff at reception and we had to phone someone, with a language barrier this took a little while, but the lady I spoke to was very friendly. It would have been nice if the pool was open.
Really amazing continental breakfast included, the room was clean, great value for money and the downstairs area was relaxing.

United KingdomDespite my asking before confirming booking, and getting assurance I would have an assessable room, due to my mobility issues. I was given a room about as far from the reception as possible and up a long, very ornate spiral staircase. It nearly crucified me getting to and from the room. The bed was so soft it caused me problems. In the end the minuses out numbered the pluses for me. A shame really as it was a nice hotel.
It was clean and the staff were helpful despite my appalling Spanish. Breakfast was a bit basic but plentiful.

AustraliaThe bathroom has NO towel hangers on walls at all. What are we to do with wet towels? Not good. One large long pillow to share wasn't good. We sleep differently and so that was a problem.

United KingdomNo drinks available in the hotel during the evening if you are not going out again. There are plenty of bars to go out to.
El Rocio & the Palacio was a whole new experience of old Spain. The hotel was beautiful and I loved it's rural style. Bedrooms with comfortable beds & great shower rooms were around an external courtyard overlooking a small plunge pool. Traditional breakfast included. The staff were smiling, courteous & very helpful. El Rocio must be seen to. be believed. Flamingos on the lake, cuckoo calling and the wonderful white church dominating the centre of the village surrounded by sandy streets and people riding horses or in their carriages for the Romeria.

SpainThe receptionist is very pleasant and efficient. El Rocío is such an atmospheric town and this place adds to that . The location on the edge of the village next to the Parque National Doñana was a huge plus. Bring your binoculars. So many birds! We came mid May and we're lucky enough to see flamingos. We were so happy to be able to bring our dog too.
