How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

If I could give people hiking the Camino just one piece of advice it would be STAY HERE! It is the absolute perfect place to stay after the Cruz de Ferrro. Don't continue onward to Ponferrada with the crowd. Stop here at this tremendous little piece of heaven instead. The hospitality was tremendous. Beautifully decorated, cozy rooms. The dinner, a Brazilian feast, was out of this world. The breakfast was the absolute best I had on the entire Camino.

No heat. Room was 62F when we checked in. Was told the heat was on some automatic system and couldn't be turned on. Room never got up to even 70, until 6am when heat finally came on.
Wonderful hosts. Great breakfast. Well located on quiet street just off Camino with bars, groceries nearby.

Jose and Mara are exceptional hosts. The Brazilian dinner was made to perfection along with a complete breakfast for hungry hikers. Their beautiful home becomes your home during your relaxing stay making you wanting you to stay more than a day.

We stayed at Casa San Nicolas while on the Camino. The persona attention we got was superb and our room was very unique. The owners Jose and Mara were Brazilian. They offered a Brazilaan dinner/buffet. The food was excellent and we had a wonderful evening taking many pictures. with the owners and as a group.. The breakfast was delicious and had a big selection of breakfast items. it was a memorable stay at Casa San Nicolas.

What a wonderful stop on the Camino. The owners are wonderful and prepared a special meal for us to enjoy. The place sparkles and it is one of the best places to stop on the entire Camino Frances, imo.

Everything was amazing here!!
This was ABSOLUTELY our FAVORITE stop on the Camino! The couple that own & run this place are WONDERFUL, WARM, GENUINE people! Their story of how they came to buy & run their hostal is a sweet love story! And the homemade food really spoiled us! Staying here is like staying in their personal home - & very comfortable with quality mattresses! Thank you for the Camino tips, sharing local cuisine & history & the Brazilian dinner was so DELICIOUS!THANK YOU for everything!!!!!!!

The communal dinner was a little expensive, but we did meet some other wonderful guests.
Very comfortable accommodation, well maintained and in an excellent location. We paid for laundry which was done very efficiently and was appreciated

Beautiful property and lovely hosts. My room was spotless and charming and the bed was so comfortable. I had breakfast the next morning and it was delicious! Such a treat to have a home cooked breakfast! One of my favourite stops while walking the Camino.

The hospitality was outstanding. Both hosts were genuinely interested in all of their guests and went out of their way to ensure that all of my needs were met. The breakfast was the best I’ve had - everything freshly prepared and served for me - and the cheapest yet! The traditional Brazilian dinner was fantastic.

What a terrific place to stay! Firstly,the town is beautiful. And secondly, the host and hostess at the San Nicolas were exceptional folks. Jose Luis got the whole group talking at dinner, which turned out to be the best interaction I have ever had on the Camino. And speaking of dinner. It was likely the best meal I have had on the Camino. It was a Brazilian smorgasbord of meat and vegetables that was truly extraordinary. And to top it all off, the room was also great. Spacious, immaculately clean with very comfortable beds. Overall a remarkable experience.
