Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot the prettiest location in Valencia. We requested a double bed and got a wheelchair accessible ground floor that was on the small side.
Great value for money. Room was comfortable and had expected facilities for the category of the hotel. Reception is in a separate building but very close. Staff were very attentive. There is a train station not far, handy if you plan to visit Valencia, a bar in front of the hostel to get food & drinks if arriving late. Also plenty of parking just behind the building.

IrelandThere was no kitchen to use, which would have been fine if we had access to water or something like a kettle in the room. The room didn't have a bin either. I booked a room with *two beds* a single and a double, since I was sharing it with my stepsister. Got two single beds pushed together and dressed as if it was one king sized bed. Under the bed must not have been cleaned since when I pushed them apart on day two we found *dirty underwear* hidden under the bed.
Staff were little sweethearts, felt like a hotel more than a hostel. The shower wasn't as dirty as the reviews said it would be, but still dirty

Located in a quite neighborhood, where you can experience everyday life of the Valencians. The underground station is just a short walk away, with direct line to the city center.

CroatiaThe neighbourhood was shady. It’s far from the centre.
It was decent. Good for one or two nights but not more. There is a metro in front of the accommodation.

Nice location very close to the metro and bus station. Next to it there is a bar + restaurant open from 7 to 01 in the night and a kebab, so even if you arrive late you can still grab something to eat

PortugalThe fact that the front desk is on a different building can be quite bothersome, especially if it's raining (which was the case for me). Additionally, having only one key for the room can be an issue if you plan on sharing the room with someone that's going to have different plans, since you'll have to come open the door for them (that includes the door leading into the building itself, not just the your room's door). Also, and this might be a personal preference, it would have been great for the room to have smaller, dimmer lamps to be used at night before going to sleep. You either have to have the ceiling light on or no light at all, which is something I dislike.
The employees at the front desk were amazing: very friendly, super helpful... I always had a great time when I went there. The cleaning staff forgot to refill our room with the shampoo packs, my roommate wanted to check in before I did (even though I made the reservation)... You name it, they solved it. The room also had a bunch of natural light, which was quite pleasant, especially during the morning! Aditionally, you're close to a lot of services: restaurants, supermarkets, metro stations... You should have everything you need within a 10-minute walk!

SpainNoisy bar opposite - but they did serve good food, and very reasonable. other than that, we were very happy.
The room was big and airy and very clean. Reception staff were all extremely helpful and friendly including the restaurant manager who was very jolly. On departure we were awaiting a taxi at 8am and he offered to get us a coffee..

PortugalI didn’t like the fact that they charged my card one day before arrival when I chose to “pay at the accommodation”. I always choose accommodations that provide this option to pay on arrival and this time they decided to charge me one day before. So this was upsetting. Specially because the card was with British pounds and I have one card that have euros and I use it all the time I have to pay in euros. Unnecessary extra charges because of this mistake.

AustraliaRoom smelt of cigarettes when we walked in first. Location doesn’t have much to offer as u need a 20 min train trip to see anything (we found it about 5€ per person each way) the shower head would fly off its mount every single time the water turns off which is an unpleasant reminder. No fan in toilet which is a massive problem. Nothing was terrible but it was not worth the price, the price was quite ridiculous for what we actually got, I’ve spent less on better around spain.
Big and comfortable bed, next to train station, close to a restaurant and supermarket. Staff were nice and helpful.

JapanI paid around 55 euros per day. They did not provide slippers, good towel, no toothpaste and toothbrush. Only provided very bad quality soap and two liquid sachets for body wash, shampoo and face wash. They did not care about the guest, they can provide these basic facilities cost them 2 to 4 euros. Even they did not provide night dress. In the same price in tokyo, I got all these facilities including breakfast (name of the hotel comfort in tokyo). It is just how they treat their guest.

MaltaThe kitchen served a number of dishes that were absurd. For dinner, the cannelloni was nuked worse than Hiroshima. What we were served was at a single second of a glance never to have left the kitchen. And yet it did. It was unacceptable. The cannelloni was dry white. Flat as a pancake in a deep bowl. I’ve truly never been served anything that awful in all my days. The fish dish was honest and ok. Dessert on the menu was a choice of the “dessert of the day” or fruit. Only we didn’t get to choose. They came out with dessert of the day without asking us anything. It was custard with a biscuit and cinnamon. Maybe we don’t like custard and wanted fruit? Darhhh! Breakfast was ok. But everything was in a pool of grease. Next to the dinning room is a social room with pool tables. There were drunkards acting very loudly next to our dinner room. One Russian started doing press-ups infront of us. It was surreal.
The property was clean enough with reasonable facilities. The surrounding town was full of loud drunkards outside my hostel room. I didn’t sleep a wink. I thought it was a bar or club beneath my room. In fact it was drunkards parked in an opposing car park playing music from a car and shouting all night. The reception insisted if it happened again they would call the police.

United StatesAlmost got our stuff stolen. At 10am on our first day, a man with a physical key to our room (they use lock and key, not keycards) unlocked the door and opened it. He had a backpack on. He saw we were in the room and left quickly. It wasn't even close to check-in time (4pm) so we doubt he was another hotel guest or that it was a mix-up. Why did he have a key to our room? He wasn't a staff member and specifically chose a time where guests are usually out exploring the city. We didn't feel safe leaving the room after that so one of us always stayed behind with the stuff. The beds were hard and the blankets were thin and cold. The shower and water heating were difficult to figure out.
It was clean
