Elevator troubles

The location is very good and the breakfast is tasty. The staff is very friendly and they gave us a very good guide to enjoy our days in Madrid.

I'm 6' 4", watch your head on the low ceiling up to the top floor on the stairs, whilst you admire whe old radio unit, Ouch.

The location next to Sol transport, and the central location. The hotel and room was very clean, beds were very comfortable.

Bathroom. The toilet area was claustrophobic, the bath area as well. Not sure if this happens in all the rooms but if you are a heavy set person you will struggle with the space availability

Being this central also means that the outside noise level is present until midnight; early sleepers have to take this into account. Also: Do not expect high class comfort or furniture. This is a nice, but rather traditional Hostal - not a flashy Hyatt.

The Hostal Riesco is a rather traditional stay in the heart of Madrid. Run by the (very nice!) owners it is the perfect base to discover the city as literally everything important is within 10-15 minutes walking distance. Its worth checking out their own website for more information and special offerings, too.

However, I cannot but mention the poverty of the monotonous breakfast, every day the same two slices of bread, a croissant, some transparent slices of cheese and a box of butter. I can say that I have never met such an anemic breakfast in any other hotel in Europe. I also didn't like the fact that you had to sit at the table and wait to be served with the portion by a lady a bit overwhelmed by the situation. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a kettle and some tea in the rooms for cool days like the ones we had.

The hotel's central location is excellent, all tourist attractions can be seen on foot. I appreciate the cleanliness of the room and the kindness of the staff.

This wasnt a major problem for me at all but just noting it for those who it could be for: you have to hand your key in to reception every time you go out and you could only be let in by pressing the buzzer downstairs and then picking your key up when you get to the reception area so i felt bad if i was to stay out late or anything like that as i had to keep buzzing in - so if u like your privacy of coming and going and keeping your key on you

Loved the location! Very noisy busy but interesting placa de sol which is constantly awake but the windows were amazing because it blocks out a lot of the noise - also i used earplugs i would recommend this as the walls are a bit thin and you can hear your neighbours Loved the Loved the bed!!! It was the most comfortabke bed i slept on in the 11 hotels i stayed in on this trip - large not too soft and pillows were fantastic Loved the balcony and the view over the piazza they took into account my request for a room with a view and i got it :)

It’s a very vibrant and full of life area also late at night. Although the property is quiet itself, the noise coming from the street can be disturbing a bit.

Excellent location: ideal for short stay/visiting the city, all main tourist attractions and shopping within walking distance, many different places to eat around. Very friendly and caring staff.

Very lovely hotel. Good value for money. Super well placed just by Puerta del Sol. Yet silent at night as the rooms face an interior courtyard. The room was medium sized, bright and the bathroom and furniture all seemed recently renewed. The beds and pillows were very comfy and everything was super clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Breakfast included orange juice, coffee/tea/cocoa, fresh croissants and toasts. They also had plant-based milk which was a plus to us :)

The beds were uncomfortable, & one was slanted, which is odd. Our room in March was hot enough that we opened the windows & heard all the street noise; unless they have great AC, summer may be extremely warm in the upper rooms.

The staff were kind & it was clean. Breakfast was sufficient. The location was very central, walking distance to all we were interested in.

Wi-Fi didn’t work well.

The location is right is the Square. It can get loud at night but that did not bother us. The room was very clean. There is staff on hand 24 hours a day and they were all helpful.

no ac even though they wrote there is one. we had to climb the stairs to get to our room (no elevator there) and also to enter the building you always need to ring the bell which is also not the most comfortable thing.

The room appeared slightly larger in the photos however did not affect my stay at all.

Staff were extremely welcoming and allowed us to leave our bags after check out whilst we enjoyed the tour of the city. I was even allowed, after check out to work in the dining area and make use of their wifi until my girlfriend had finished work, nearly 6 hours later. The location is in Plaza Sol and whilst you are in the heart of the Plaza and can enjoy the views of whatever activities are ongoing in the day/night, if you close the balcony door, you cannot hear the outside noise. Fantastic stay!!

Hostel situated in the very city centre which was meant that we could walk everywhere (except El Escorial). Good breakfast. Room very good as we got one with view to Puerta del Sol. To get the room was not easy. When I asked they wrote NO, but when I thanked them for their "amiability" this was changed!
