Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenBad sound insulation between rooms. The towels could be softer :) lots of mosquitoes in the evening but not excessively bothering. Cleaning in a bathroom can be a little more thorough.
José is an incredible host, even though communication in English was a bit difficult. We loved breakfasts on a lovely terrace with José’s friendly dog and his homemade walnut cake. The location is very beautiful and convenient if you have a car. Picturesque landscape with horses and chickens surrounded by green mountains. Quiet evenings on the terrace in front of green meadow and lots of flowers. The villa is beautifully decorated in rural Spanish style.

United KingdomThe owner is very attentive to details and makes many of the things available for your breakfast, If you are a coffee lover he also takes great pride in that too. The whole atmosphere of the place is conducive to feeling at home from the covered outdoor areas, small table and two chairs outside your room in the garden and the two areas inside the house with glass walls to provide great views in comfort

United KingdomWe stayed at the Hotel Ibarra for 8 nights in September 2023. The hotel is traditional Spanish but with some lovely design features and quirky touches. We had a corner room with a dual aspect and wonderful views, the room was a good size with plenty of space, the bed was comfortably, there was a fridge which was very useful, and in general everything was very nice and comfortable. We had breakfast each day which was an additional charge but we felt was value for money, it was a buffet with plenty of choice. Jose, the proprietor, provided freshly squeezed orange juice each day and you could have as much as you wished to eat, there was plenty of fresh fruit, a selection of cheeses, lots of meat products, jams, honey, fresh bread, and excellent coffee. The hotel is in an excellent location. You can walk to the local train station in 15 minutes and the train to Bilbao takes about 40 minutes and was inexpensive, the trains are regular and there is a timetable in the station. Jose was very welcoming and his English was as good as our Spanish - which is to say neither of us was proficient, however, we managed to get by and had some conversations. He provided us with a map of the local area and other information. Jose's dog is very much part of the hotel family and welcomes everyone with a wagging tail, he loves to have his tummy rubbed but beware he can also be a grump! He struts about as if he owns the hotel - maybe he does! :-) We were very taken with him and he made us smile. We loved our time here and will plan to be back again at some point in the future. There are lots of places to visit close by, such as a wonderful motor museum with the biggest selection of Rolls Royce's we have every seen, and a very interesting factory where they used to make the Basque traditional berets. And of course the Guggenheim in Bilbao and the funicular was fun. We highly recommend this hotel and thank Jose for making our holiday so enjoyable.

BelgiumDespite the location it was more noisy than we thought with the train and highway. Not in that way that it disturbed our sleep, mostly when we sat outside in the garden.

IrelandOur only regret was the short duration of our stay for two nights. Had we realised how enchanting it was going to be, we would have extended it by a further five days.
The owner José was incredibly kind, helpful and good humoured. When he heard our train had broken down in another town, he surprised us by turning up at the station and offering a free lift to his hotel. The Swiss style family owned hotel had stunning views across the rich green valley. Aside from their own beautifully maintained gardens, complete with a water feature and a lush variety of trees, separate tables and chairs were placed on the patio outside the 'hall door' of every room that opened onto the garden. Breakfast was fit for a king, the rooms were pristine clean and the ambiance overall would ideally suit a writer's retreat. Highly recommended.
