Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BelgiumNo coffee/tea in our room, while friends in our group had rooms with this important extra. We had all paid the same price, but they had more modern, less tired accommodation at the front of the hotel. We drew the short straw, I think. One of our 2 lifts for half the hotel was out of action over the weekend and Monday. So a bit of a wait. But this didn't really affect the quality of our stay too much.
Comfortable beds, working airconditioning, great shower pressure, safe and mini fridge. Plenty of wardrobe space.

United KingdomOn arrival when we enquired about the garage parking arrangements, we were not welcomed by the reception staff, just told to return when reception opened. The hotel provided very limited dining arrangements and several meals on the menu were not available.
Most facilities were good. Excellent room. Breakfasts were very good. Private parking was good. Cleanliness throughout was good.

United KingdomGrumpy, unwelcoming receptionist. Breakfast was poor 10€ if booked the day before or 15€ on the day. Very busy, queues for food and coffee - the ‘hot food’ was stone cold as the hot plate was not switched on! Only saved by ordering fried eggs which were cooked fresh. (Go to the bar next door for a great value breakfast with a smile).
Good location, close to the Guggenheim, metro, lots of places within walking distance. Good size room which also had a Fridge.

AustraliaBreakfast whilst good was possibly in need of another staff member, due to a huge guest attendance it was frequently out of cereal spoons, and items being refilled. A note to the reception staff, when not busy, a smile or nod costs nothing when guests are entering or leaving the building.
Amazing room 1305. Great bathroom and comfortable bed. Fridge worked well as did aircon. Breakfast was more than enough choice. Lolly jar for a late night treat. Cleaning done well every day and complimentary water each day. Plenty of food places around. Great bar across the street with decent menu for a sit down meal (Martxos)
