Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe parking is difficult. There is little place right next to the reception. Too little for a car to park and other cars to pass. There is parking a little higher up. But there is only space for maybe 6 cars. Too few. Then there is parking further down with enough space. No problem to find a space there but you have to carry your luggage uphill. I understand: It's an old castle not built to accommodate cars and we had no problem with this. It was just confusing when I arrived.
Living in a fortress with fabulous views! Like a queen and a king. Nice hotel rooms, restaurant and bar; very friendly and helpful staff. There is a nice place around each and every corner of the Parador. They even have a free sauna. The rooms were large with a window overseeing the old town of Cardona. And the window faced west for a perfect view of the sunset. The walk to the old town goes downhill but it only takes around 10 minutes.

NetherlandsAmazing location & very special experience to stay in a castle dating back to the 9th century. And that for a price that in many other countries does not get you even an average hotel.

ItalySome signage to reception would really help along with pointers to the addition parking. If it was there, we missed it.
An absolutely spectacular position looking over the town and countryside. It was fun exploring this historic castle. The dining experiences were delicious and so were the wines. The room was comfortable and the bathroom modern with a great shower! The hotel staff were all delightful and couldn’t have been more helpful.

United StatesThe Onion Soup with Creameaux didn't come together well, partially due to an overly elaborate service in which the warm soup was poured from an unheated pitcher into a cold bowl with a large hunk of room temperature cheese at the bottom along with scant crouton. It wanted for melted cheese and a more solid crouton. My soup wasn't properly hot (because of the silly pitcher theatrics). The solid chunk of Creameaux didn't properly meld with the soup; instead, it overpowered the dish unpleasantly. If one wants to complicate a soup service, why not flambé the top so that the cheese is melted? I ate the whole thing, trying to be open-minded, but honestly, it never grew on me this was one of the worst soups that I have had. (I am being detailed here because I have studied culinary arts and worked cooking as well, and the issues were obvious here.) The Tortilla seemed to have been made by someone who themselves hates tortilla. The one that I had at the Barcelona Airport so upstaged this that I sent it back. Never be afraid to season your food!
I arrived during a Christmas season holiday weekend, with a knee injury. Naomi at the front desk, was very kind and drove me to and from the bus stop. I really thought that this was wonderfully kind and attentive. She even helped me wheel bags to the elevator. The man working the desk at night very kindly brought me some tea after the restaurant and cafeteria were both closed. This location is very special. I had never seen a castle before, let alone slept in one. The room had a nice bathtub and I employed it often! Wonderfully scented Orange Blossom lotion in the bathroom that I wish I could take home! I slept a lot because I wasn't feeling well. It was very tranquil. The dining room is beautiful. Just breathtaking. Some of the food was very good. The house Tempranillo was value-priced and so good that I had 3 glasses! I liked the steak I ordered for one meal, but being accustomed to US steaks, I was not expecting the ribeye to be trimmed of all of the fat! This was cooked to temp precisely.. The Whiskey Torte was soooo delicious. It had wonderful flavors and interesting textures. featuring a lovely Whisky Mouselline and simultaneously laced with crunchy bits of what seemed to be Toffee. Beautifully presented. I had it with a Johnny Walker and Black Tea Toddy alongside. The fresh-squeezed Orange juice was fabulous and came out of a wonderful little gadgetr The Croquettes were super yummy, decadent, and I felt a little naughty eating them because they clearly were haute junk-food! All of the bread was super fresh and very good.
