Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GuamThis Pension is absolutely adorable. Run by the sweetest couple, we stayed in a private room with bath over looking a square and it was perfect. Amazing value for the area when room rates had skyrocketed as a result of a conference in town.

GermanyWell the only thing I could say that if you are a light and early sleeper that you should be aware that there are bars and restaurants around. For us this wasn’t disturbing at all.
The pension is perfectly situated in the old town with a lot of cafes, bars and restaurant around it. We had a private bathroom and an amazing view on the square infront of the building.

IrelandThe only issue we had was noise from the street when our windows were open at night
We loved our hosts’ personal touch. Their presence on-site added a lovely homely feel. The location was very central. Wifi was free and excellent. Really clean too.

IcelandThe location was good right in the center of Bilbao. My room was big, with two small balconies and the double bed was fine. Restaurants and bars nearby, old buildings, and narrow streets. Very nice. The hotel (guesthouse) is a respectful old building, a little tired, but ok. No elevator and the rooms are on the 2 floor. A wonderful elderly couple runs the place and does not speak English but some German. It was not a problem. Parking is impossible near the building. I used public parking nearby, only 5 min. walk. On the whole a very good value for the money.

United Kingdom-
We were pleasantly surprised by this guesthouse! It is located right in the cathedral plaza of the old town and the views onto the square are amazing. The room is simple but cosy and has all you could need for your stay including towels and toiletries. The couple who own the guesthouse are very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help (even putting up with my rusty Spanish!). Great value for money and would definitely recommend!

ItalyThe showers need a bit of reparations
The rooms are clean, nice and ours had the typical covered balcony with view on the plaza. The owners are friendly and helpful, we could store our luggage after we had checked out. We came in august so high season and that was reflected in the pricing, and to be expected in a city like Bilbao. Don’t expect the classic hotel situation here, it’s comfortable and has everything you need and you are right in the heart of Bilbao!

United StatesI stayed at this pension on a Saturday night, and the noise in the neighborhood was incredible, with very little soundproofing. It didn’t detract from the hotel but just made it hard to sleep…
the staff were so friendly, greeted me at the door to let me into the room though I was a bit early, explained the keys for the building and rooms kindly, and were generally very helpful. The room was very clean and neat, with cozy lighting and really nice bathroom, as well as windows that faced the interior of the building. I felt very safe staying there alone.

SlovakiaThe street noise, it is super noisy in the room.
We mostly appreciated the old kind landlord, who was the first person we met every morning and night, he was always smiling and cheering us up, even if we did not understand Spanish. That was the most likable thing, because we felt like at our grandpa´s house .)

SpainThe owners were a lovely old couple, who were chatty & helpful. The hostal is a street away from the cathedral, so vey well placed in the old town. There is a maze of streets there, filled with shops, bars and restaurants. You are also near the bridge that takes you into the main shopping street. It is also a fairly straighforward 40 min walk to the Guggenheim museum from there.

NetherlandsThe only thing I didn't like was the bed. It was just too hard to lay down comfortably. The sheets weren't great as well. So if I could give a tip: invest in new beds and the place will be great again!
The people of Roquefer are so kind. The communication on site was a bit difficult since we didn't speak any Spanish and they didn't speak any English, but that's the charm of traveling. Our rooms were clean and they made our bed every day. They did their best to make us feel at home, which we did. The location is simply amazing. Located next to one the main cathedrals of Bilbao and in the heart of Casco Viejo with all it's bars and restaurants, it's the perfect way to explore Bilbao.
