How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic and quite small, but the bed was big. Ground floor and courtyard seating areas are nice, with plenty of space for multiple groups without feeling overcrowded. Location of the hotel was convenient for all the sites, we walked everywhere.

Location was excellent, walking distance to everything. Good breakfast on site. Staff were always helpful. Really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of public transport right outside the front door.

Slightly noisy (I think the walls might be quite thin so I could hear people talking above me) but it didn’t bother me too much and it didn’t take anything away from my overall experience

The rooms were a little bit basic as they were quite small, we had no view and there wasn’t a fridge or any tea/coffee services.
Clean, modern and in a really good location. Nice terrace out the back to relax in.

The room was too small, even for a couple. There was not enough room for clothes and no desk for the computer. Breakfast was average.
The location is excellent! The staff is very helpful.

The room was small, but who wants to stay in their room when you are in Barcelona!
We loved our stay in this charming hotel. Although the rooms are small there is a great communal area out the back with couches to relax in and tables where you can work. It even has free coffee available. And we loved that the reception is a bar as well! The staff were all extremely kind and helpful. The location couldn't be better.

I don't have any complaints or grumbles
Staff very helpful through out our stay and gave excellent recommendations for local restaurants. The bedrooms and bathrooms were of good standard and I slept well each night. The downstairs terrace was a relaxing space.a great place to drink coffee, or wine later on.

You can hear noises from other rooms through the walls

We opted for room only rate and that worked for us. Breakfast didn't look appealing to me.
Location was great, right in front of a bus station and 8 min walk to a major metro station. Room 205 was clean with plenty of natural lighting. King bed in Europe was a plus. Alex who checked us in was exceptional and gave us plenty of good tips. His restaurants recommendations didn't disappoint but I suggest make reservations. Everyone I interacted with were really nice and helpful. We waited a while in few of the restaurants. The location was walking distance to few of the Gaudi buildings and was 15 min walk to Gothic quarters.

Very welcoming when we got there. Loved the decor. The buffet breakfast was very good. Did not mind the additional cost. The luggage storage extended our time in Barcelona by half a day. Showers were great.
