How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The room lacked of ventilation and natural light. Doors were a bit loud as they slammed when closing them, they might need to install some pneumatic door closers. Nothing major but we requested to park our car earlier in the hotel, before our check in time, but this was denied. I understand it is not always possible due to other guests leaving the hotel but we came to realise that we were the only ones using the car park. This is not major but it is not always easy to find parking in a city that you don't know and Santiago can get busy! That was the only communication with the hotel besides the instructions for the check in and check out by message.
The location was good, just 15min from the center and the Cathedral. Beds were nice and comfy, the hotel is located in a quiet street. Check in and check out were easy.

Great location on the Camino Frances, at a good off-season price. Staff was helpful to allwo late checkout, so I could attend the 12:00 mass in the cathedral

Hot weather, needs air con. No other comments.
Very nice apartment about 500+ kilometers from the main areas but a nice walk on the camino. Elevator in bldg was a plus. We were pleased with accommodations.

The beds were quite hard and the pillows too bulky for me. I had to use a folded up towel. It was not clear when we arrived that there was a card to turn the electricity on so we were stumbling around with our phone torches to start with. Although it did not say that there were cooking facilities, the main photo showed a room with a sink and cooker, so we were hoping there would be some.
The view from the room and the garden/patio area was lovely. It was not far to walk into the old town which has many museums to explore. It was great to have a fridge in the room and the shower was wonderful.

Our room in the attic had a sloping roof. I wacked my head off it three times. I'm only 5'5 so if you're tall be mindful of that

Car parking rather tight A bit warm beer the roof (but opening the window on the night helped) First I didn’t understand how to turn on the keypad in the dark -> there is a small symbol in its centre.
Very nice room Very clean Keypad system enabled rather late arrival at midnight. Easy walking distance to the city centre.

A great relaxing place to end up the Camino - quiet, comfy, bright, clean... It was a new thing for me with the online check-in but everything went smoothly and the communciation with the host was flawless. I recommend it!!

Nothing- it was great!
The room was clean, tidy & spacious with a good bathroom. The table and fridge meant we could breakfast & lunch in the room when we liked. We had an issue with the key but this was fixed without any problem - thank you so much for all your help!

The rooms were super clean, spacious, airy, and well equipped with coffee, tea, and a refrigerator. Great location near a market and restaurants. Just a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

Not a fan of a "seamless" check in, where you have to fill in your passport details online and there is no one at the building to meet you. Also, the keypad for the access code is not obvious, especially at night. No breakfast available.
Very clean and comfortable rooms in a quiet location. Coffee machine in room.
