I wish there was tea in the room as well, but it may have been a cultural thing to only provide coffee. A minor thing that makes no difference to how much we enjoyed our stay.

Parking is a challenge but hotel does have garage. Windows needed cleaning! Coffee is hard to get for early risers. Pods in room are not enough coffee for two people, and nearby cafes don’t open until 7:30. Certainly not a big deal.

Beautifully and freshly apportioned rooms. Spacious with room for personal items. Close to beach and boardwalk.

Not the type of hotel we usually stay in, as we tend to go for small, family owned properties but it was such a bargain - approx £65 a night for a double room including parking- that we decided to go for it. Great decision, beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff, large, well equipped and comfortable room. Parking was ideal, directly underneath the hotel with a pedestrian entrance straight up into the lobby. Can't comment on the restaurant as we ate at the restaurants nearby, just across the road and down towards the sea. There's a row of 4 or 5, and the 2 we ate in were excellent and great value too. For breakfast we ate at a beachfront cafe, again excellent food and good value. Not stayed in Sardinero before, and really enjoyed it. Lovely coastal walks in both directions. We headed towards the Cabo Mayor lighthouse, beautiful views. Just an easy 20 minute drive to the ferry terminal. Will definitely stay here again.

The lights in the bathroom did not have the possibility of the soft level.

The location was great, practically on the beach, close to palacio Magdalena and about equal distance from the hiking part of the town (the lighthouse and the zip-line park) and the real center of town (center Botin). The room was spacious and the bed comfortable and the bathroom with a large walk-in shower. You can go running to the lighthouse, or the beaches, or park Lamas.

Booked deluxe double room with parking. Car park under hotel. Very close to beach and an easy walk into Santander. Good size room with seaview. Lovely comfy bed. Nice clean bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff. A short drive to the ferry port.

Nothing really, Sardinero is an expensive area so prices reflect the same. Food seemed quite expensive at first but was largely in line with most restaurants in the surrounding hotels.

Impressive Hotel if a little stark in architecture. Well appointed entrance in marble which caused large sound amplification from children at first communion parties, easy access to hotel parking, need to have parking as street parking at a premium. Just short walk from Sardinero beach. Room was very well appointed if not the largest but all worked very well, clean and comfortable with fridge and small coffee machine. Good size bathroom with shower. Breakfast was really good with large selection from cereals through to fresh fruit all alin between. Good transport links into the centre of Santander.

Dined in the restaurant on one evening, food was good but the restaurant somehow lacked atmosphere. Also, people were arriving and walking across the restaurant between tables of diners, to access another room, possibly attending a private function. I found this a little uncomfortable while eating.

Location, spacious room, spotlessly clean, large very comfortable bed. And blackout blinds for use as required!

Nothing but only the external of the hotel doesn’t look appealing but do not let that put you off.

It has had a full update internally and is exceptionally clean and fresh throughout.

The bar was dated and lacked any character and atmosphere. Secure parking was expensive at €18 per night but there was free street parking.

Perfectly located near the beach. Our room had sea views. Excellent breakfast with many healthy options.

Excellent stay at Santemar Hotel. Very close to the main beach of the city El Sardinero (5 walking). Enclosed parking was available by the hotel at a certain cost per day but we have parked outside (not paying anything). Room was spacious, very well and tasting furnished and very quiet. Cleaning also was excellent and in general staff was very helpful. They even provided us with beach towels for the sea. You need 30-40 minutes walking to get to the center but there are also buses (1.30 euros) and the bus stop is just 2 minutes away. Many restaurants and bars around, I wouldn't go at the cafeteria of the Casino, next to the hotel because the staff is completely indifferent. I would recommend a visit at Bottin museum in the center. It has an excellent cafeteria - restaurant in the ground floor overlooking the bay and the sea and has excellent coffee and salads.
