Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesRoom and beds and bathroom were a bit on the smaller size, but reasonable for a historic european city and given the price. Room was good for sleeping and not spending any excessive period of time in. One complaint is lack of electric tea kettle which is standard in most places and hotel charged for morning espresso-machine mediocre quality coffee. If I can't boil my own water, coffee should be free. Staff WAS kind enough to provide us with free hot water for tea & ramen in the room.
Exceedingly friendly staff, good bargain for location (20min walk to bus/train stations, 10min walk up the hill to center of city and other attractions). We extended for a 3rd night as we loved the city so much.

The staff were wonderfully helpful in making restaurant/food suggestions, providing a map, and helping to get a taxi back to the train station. Thanks, Anna, Jorge, and Rebecca! Location wise, the hotel being right next to the Puerta del Sol, meant easy access via bus from the train station (for 3 people with luggage, only about €6). No long walks with luggage. Yay! Once settled, we could wonder through the old city and explore.

PortugalHotel doesn't have many cafés nearby opened for early breakfast. Parking on the street of the hotel can be a bit tricky since it's on a uphill and narrow street.
Very central and within walking distance of the main points of interest. Hotel was recently renovated and rooms look clean and modern.
