Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing not to like, as described. (If you're looking for a 5 star hotel with spa, room service, bar and restaurant look elsewhere)
Friendly staff, wonderful historic location, comfortable bed. Easy walk into the centre of Saintes for other sites, bars and restaurants. Continental breakfast as described. Audio tour of the Abbey included with the room.

United KingdomThe mattress was very hard and the pillows were very soft. It would have been nice if the gift shop and cafe were open.
The building was amazing and the rooms very well appointed.

FranceWe arrived late and there was noone to greet us, we called the guardian and got the impression that we were upsetting his routine. We did not know that the guardian was available all night (where?) and so had a great fear of getting locked out of the room as the bathrooms are communal. Rather, I had the fear that my kids who were in the next room to me would get themelves locked out whilst I was sleeping and would stay out all night. We tried to exit the place via the main entrance to go out and eat, but it was all bolted up, which seems rather strange for a door signposted as an emergency exit. I have grave doubts that what was designed as an evangelical establishment is suitable for tourism. I would not recommend this place to families with children.
It's calm and peaceful.

FranceSparse confusing confirmation arrangements. Access to the hotel after 20h00 is complicated. The nightwarden showed us the shared bathrooms...a bit confusing as we had reserved a room with a private bathroom. He assured us that none of the rooms had a bathroom..... And indeed there was one!! We didn't know that breakfast was available...in fact the Booking.com information stated that there was no breakfast available..but there was! "Leave your key in the urn at the end of the corridor" didn't work either....no urn in sight.
Charming, well restored comfortable rooms. We were glad to have booked a room with a private shower room and toilet. Nice to have a kettle and hot drinks ingredients and a bottle of water. Furnishings in wood are of a good quality. Thank you! A little expensive however given the absence of other hotel facilities

United KingdomRestricted by the building’s original design, the room and en- suite shower were small but modernised. No toiletries.
Beautiful building very close to the Roman arch and river. The reception team were delightful and friendly. The building has been beautifully renovated.

Jerseythe “private bathroom” was tiny. the shower had just enough room to stand in - but if you turned around you’d turn the shower off with your hip as there was no space. When we booked in, we were offered breakfast at €15 each which we decided to take as there weren’t many options close by. Personally I wish we hadn’t bothered - we didn’t feel it was worth it at all.
The history is fabulous and the rooms are finished well and very clean. We discovered by accident that if you stayed in the Abbey you could do a self-guided tour for free. we did it with the translation recording and I loved it. fabulous narration of the story. We also managed to have a go on the musical carousel. I speak some French but it wasn’t easy to understand the instructions. As you go round and round, it’s split into three parts. 1 - practice your ‘instrument’. part 2 - play your instrument in time with the beat as you are all being recorded. part 3 - listen back to the music you’ve all made!

LuxembourgThe shared bathroom& showers
It was nice, but having to share bathroom & showers (in these COVID times), made it very unattractive and extremely uncomfortable if you had to use the toilet at night. And at no point in the reservation mentioned the fact that bathroom needed to be shared. I would never choose it if I had known

United KingdomI arrived after 20.00 and it was not obvious how to enter the building. There were no staff, only a phone number. The person that answered the phone spoke only French, luckily someone that happened to be in the carpark spoke English and managed the situation for me. If that did not happen then I probably would have been sleeping under the trees. In the morning I saw no evidence of breakfast facilites or staff except cleaners. Also, the bathrooms were clean but, previous people had left wet floors and wet towels in the facility so, really not what I expected.
