Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNot much! It really was a magnificent stay
It's hard to explain how magical a place the Chateau is. We stayed 2 nights with another family and had the most amazing time. The accommodation is spectacular with so many great touches, making our stay even more special. The rooms are very comfortable, the outdoor spaces are relaxing and welcoming, and the common areas inside are beautiful. Emma, Paul and the whole team were very helpful with all our questions and helped with bookings and suggestions around the area also. We're already planning when we can visit again.

United KingdomOnly minor thing is we would have liked a glass panel on the bath as otherwise the water goes everywhere and makes it hard to wash properly.
We had a warm welcome from our hosts who were very friendly and extremely accommodating! They booked a restaurant and taxi for us last minute and their children came to tell us the taxi had arrived. As well as allowing us to have a late check out and use the facilities before we left for our flight back. The chateau is beautiful with different rooms with games, an honesty bar with wine, soft drinks and snacks, the breakfast room with complimentary pastries, water machine and hot drinks machine. We made use of the pool which was lovely despite being attacked by mosquitoes. The terrace was also lovely too which was nice and peaceful. Our room was for 4 people with two comfy double beds, a bathroom (separate toilet to shower and sink). It was big enough for four adults for a short stay. Finally, Todd the dog was so cute and friendly which was the cherry on the cake!

United StatesThe room we chose on the third floor was very lovely in decor, very clean and was as described. Understanding that it was a chateau without an elevator, climbing the steps with our luggage was a little challenging.
The environment was peaceful, relaxing, engaging and the customer service impeccable! Emma and her team made us feel very welcome and met our needs. The outdoor surroundings were out of a historical romance.

United StatesLots of steps at this property, would have been a nice touch to when we arrived, have the owner/staff on call when answering the intercom at the gate to offer to come down to the parking area and help with bags (similarly to suggest parking behind the check in desk to load bags, we happened to see another guest do this and followed suit). Would have been a nice touch to get a very brief verbal history of the property (we did like the print out about the chateau in our room, this was a great touch) or offer a more detailed tour if time allowed. It's clear the family owning this property have taken incredible care of it and are so devoted to the chateau, however! We just didn't see that come through upon check in. The scent of lavender was so welcomed, alas we had arrived in Provence! However, both my friend and I felt the scent was simply TOO strong, a subtler amount of fragrance would be better. Additionally the room had clearly just been cleaned upon our arrival and the strong scent of the cleaning products lingered in the bathroom for quite some time. The temperature in the room was a little tough to regulate and one of the electrical or phone outlets hummed a little distractingly throughout the night, but I'm sure management would have handled swiftly had it not been in the middle of the night. This may be due in a different approach to bee / mosquito prevention but the bees pretty much took over our breakfast table due to the jams and fruits attracting them, and we decided to just stop eating at that point as it was so distracting. Not sure if there's a method or something to be done to ward them off humanely. Same went with the mosquitoes by the pool. May just be what it is in Provence, but took away ever so slightly from the experience. All in all we did have a lovely time and would return back, these are just some minor recommendations to take the property and experience from "really good" to "simply outstanding.
The chateau was simply stunning. We had no shortage of nooks and crannies of the property to explore and in which to simply be in awe of its beauty. The proprietors have done an incredible job styling the space (I'm in love with the green marble topped chest!). The pool was lovely, enjoyed a nice afternoon there after a TGV ride from Paris and a drive. Should consider partially heating it though, it was extraordinarily cold even in the peak heat of the day. Loved that they had lawn games - pétanque etc., just didn't have an opportunity to partake. Breakfast was picture perfect, so many great options and touches throughout. May have been my favorite part! Loved the little board with recommendations of the various markets to visit each day. And the literature and decor in the front salon was fantastic. Also loved the honor bar, worked quite easily and we had everything we needed.

ItalyThe Chateau finds itself nestled in a picturesque landscape, in close proximity to the Rhone River and within convenient reach of the principal Provencal villages. Our journey led us through four distinct hotels across the Provence region, and I find myself unequivocally concurring that this hotel stands as the quintessence of excellence, a sentiment fortified by the following aspects: Owners: Overseeing the operations of this relais in an authentically Provencal manner, they manifest both affability and refinement Personnel: Their outstanding caliber and their solicitude for the welfare of the guests imbues one's experience with a sense of wonderment Hygiene: The rooms, permeated by a redolence of freshness, consistently maintain an impeccable standard of cleanliness, which is a rarity observed only in certain places Breakfast: It assumes the stature of a culinary experience, featuring an extensive array of food. I would recommend taking it in the early hours of the morning Aesthetic: Not only common areas, but also rooms boast a superlative array of textiles, harmonising splendidly with distinctive and singular fashioned pieces of furniture.

CanadaThe only things I can think of are super minor - because the bathrooms don’t have fans, it might be nice to have some spray in there. And maybe a shower curtain for the tubs with the shower attachment?
Friendliness and welcoming nature of the lovely staff, beauty all around, gorgeous facilities! Breakfast was lovely, and we adored Woody the dog! It was really nice to be able to access the coffee machine & snacks during the day, and have access to other drinks. Everything was just gorgeous. Our only regret was not staying for longer.

SwitzerlandWe carried our luggage from the parking lot up the stairs and gravel path to the hotel. The lack of the information, that you can drive to the back of the hotel and unload the luggage, is the only point that comes to my mind. But it is a free little workout ;-)
Everything else. VERY friendly and helpful staff. The relaxing atmosphere and quietness. The feeling of safety. A lot of space to relax inside and outside. Free parking and charging station.
