Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom"Did not like" would be too strong but just to note, Les Troglos are a few minutes distant from the town, mostly via a small suburban estate/tight roads so a walk into town for a meal would be 20 minutes or so (estimated). But once in town, Beaulieu that is, attractive though that is, it is well worth keeping walking into Loches on the other side of the Indre - Royal City indeed. Special.
Breakfast was excellent, mostly home-made, & all the better for it. Troglo accommodation was very comfortable, all expected facilities. No surprise, the stone walls did block wi-fi - simple answer: step outside. Car parking is protected. Mini-garden in front of the dwellings is pleasant to sit in, lots of nooks and crannies. Gratis coffee a welcome touch. Hosts very welcoming but not intrusive. Loches iself perfect either for a stop-over en route south or as a Loire area base

United KingdomMy only issue if I have to name a negative is the checkin time is late so we didn't get chance to really enjoy the cave as much as we would of liked to, but it's not a problem as we would definitely come again to visit
What an unusual beautiful find this was!! Location was great, and hosts were fantastic offering us help and advice. Never stayed in a cave house before so this was something totally different which we found really relaxing. Breakfast was perfect and all homemade!!! In the morning the burner had switched itself on and it was sooo cosy

United KingdomA wonderful stopover. The hosts were warm, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are quirky, cleverly appointed and comfortable. The communal gardens are beautiful. Breakfast was a delight of garden produce and homemade pastries. There is large shared fridge-freezer that helped tide us over on our travels. The small kitchenette has a microwave and coffee-machine. Well situated for access to Loches as well as the many visitor sites of the Loire Valley.

United KingdomNothing to dislike.
Host who spoke good English advised suitable Restaurants. A really nice walk into a town that is definitely worth visiting. My room was the Cabane which was a different experience and I got to experience a cave environment at breakfast the next day. The shower was hot and powerful. The mattress seemed a bit tired but I slept okay. Probably worth spending more money for the cave environment. Breakfast was varied with home made jams, yoghurt and cakes.

Unique property , rooms charming and of good temperature Very agreeable hosts , english spoken by both , very helpful for information about the area and region. Situated in a nice quiet village. Loches town is easily walkable ( for the basically fit ) with decent places to eat . . Facility to prepare your own basic foods and eat outside, Super U 10 mins drive . Situated very well for short day trips to chenanceau, Amboise, Montesore and more

United KingdomThe room was spotlessly clean and I can understand the reluctance ,to allow eating and drinking anything, apart from water inside the accommodation, in order to keep it so pristine. There is a lovely garden area provided to consume food and drink. But I do wonder what would be the case in bad weather. We were very lucky, it was sunny and hot. Also, it is advertised that the cabin has air-conditioning. There isn't a remote for this. So we spent a hot ,sleepless, uncomfortable night. But that was sorted the next morning ,when the proprietor informed us we should have contacted them to turn it on and were very apologetic. So although not a major problem. I need to point that out to future clients. Maybe a sign inside the accommodation would solve the problem. Apart from those small issues,we had an amazing time!
A very different, quirky place to stay. The room was very well thought out and well equipped for our 1 night stay. There was everything we needed. Nice shower, comfy bed and the location was amazing. Very friendly, helpful owners, who made us feel at home. Free parking was a bonus and the option of having breakfast was also a plus. I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone who would like to try a new experience. Also quite easy to find.

United StatesEverything was great; it would be an added bonus to have WiFi in the rooms, but that’s not necessarily good for holiday.
Les Troglos de Beaulieu is a beautiful property with exceptional hosts. The breakfast each morning was absolutely outstanding, and we loved the morning community as we planned our day to come. Celine is an amazing cook, and so knowledgeable about Loches and the surrounding area. Steve steered us to a new favorite restaurant and gave excellent walking directions into town. I also really like that there is a locking gate (you’ll get a key!), so the whole property feels very safe and secure.

United StatesNothing. My car's GPS wasn't working, and without Wifi or Internet, I couldn't access the maps I'd uploaded to my Android. I got lost trying to find the place, but was able to call, and the host came out on his bike to meet me and guide me to my lodging.
Stayed in a cave! How cool is that? An artificial one, but built right into the rock. This area of France (Loire Valley) has many "troglodyte" dwellings, shops and museums. The room had a separate sitting area, with books and tourist info. There was a dehumidifier to keep the place cool. I liked the extra touch of the sign outside my room that had my name and "Bienvenue" (welcome). The hosts were a lovely young couple. The man took the time not only to come get me on his bike when I got lost (see below), but also to make a reservation for me at a recommended local restaurant; most importantly, he showed me how to use the GPS in my car, which the car rental company could not be bothered to do. This was a game-changer for the rest of my trip. If you're visiting the chateaux of the Loire (Loches is the nearest one. but Amboise and Blois not far) and want something truly different, with great hospitality, this is it. Highly recommend.

United KingdomThe outside spaces were a little bit tired and the plants were in need of some love. The furniture and fittings were appropriate but basic - I personally would have liked a little bit more luxury in the furniture and linens, etc. This is not a complaint at all because we enjoyed our stay very much. The immediate area around the property itself is quite unremarkable.
We were two families with one child each and were in the cave room (2 adults + 2 kids) and the cabin. Both rooms were quirky and full of character, particularly the cave room. Our host Steve took us through all the history of the quarries and explained how him and his wife Celine had turned them into a B&B and done a lot of the work themselves - all very interesting. The cave room had a lovely fireplace in a lounge-like area. The cabin was very nice and self-contained with a toilet and shower. The beds were comfy and we had a very good night's sleep. The breakfast space and the breakfast were outstanding. Celine and Steve are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The neighbouring town Loches is magnificent and worth a visit.

United KingdomIf I’m being picky the steps to the upstairs bedroom very steep. A bistro set in the private garden might have been more comfortable than the pallet seats.
Loved the location and walk over to Loches for dinner. Very friendly and helpful hosts. A unique expérience to stay in a cave house.
